Foundry Server

Some may remember the Foundry, I personally played some of the best stories there. And some still miss the Foundry. To many, it was one of the best parts of the game. In the cllient we now have the servers Neverwinter, Neverwinter Preview and Owlbear.I wondered why not make a seperate Foundry server. Nothing to earn there, just to make a Foundry or play them. I am sure many players would just like me love that.I really can't imagine any reason against it.

The reason against it is that it was a poorly designed system on the tech side and a nightmare to administer. I personally loved the Foundry as well, but like the Gateway Cryptic just doesn't have the resources to run complement systems that don't net enough profit to maintain themselves. The list of abandoned systems for that very reason is long and the Foundry not even the most prominent example.

Re-introducing the Foundry, or some variant, is one of the things I still hope happens because of Gearbox influence. It would be a sign to old players that the game is coming back, that the crass monetization schemes are finally behind us, or at least being offset by other, better things.

It's why I still log in about once a month - just to see if there's anything to get excited about. The resources are there - IF the company wants to make it happen.

So your hope is that Gearbox will heavily invest in a 10-year old game with an even older engine. Neverwinter seems to be doing pretty well (mostly because of the crass monetization schemes) but you'll have a hard time pitching a system like the Foundry, especially since it already failed once. Unless you really buy into it and somehow make it a major part of the game, no.
