Dear Cryptic Developers,
I’m writing this post based on my experience with the Adult Dragon Hunts. This is my opinion based on what I experienced playing through this. I have to say the Adult Dragon Hunt is the worse experience I’ve ever encountered in 20 plus years of online gaming. The removal of the Trinity requirement for play really caused major frustration for me and others I’ve teamed up with and friends of mine.
I main a Warlock now. I normally main a tank; however, with the Paladin and Great Weapons Fighter tank questionably bad state, DPS was my choice of play. However, during these adult dragon fights I found myself tanking too many times to count. Once I had aggro, it was mine. Especially when a tank was in the party. Normally, the Paladin or GW Tank were unable to take back aggro.
The adult dragon hunt ruined the game experience for me. So much so, I will not take my alts into it. Not until such time y’all allow for a 4-person part containing a tank, healer, and 2 dps. Why this wasn’t done in the first place is beyond me. Had it been like this in the first place, I’d pushed through it in a week or two. It took me 2 months and I dreaded doing it every time.
Y’all might think this is cool; however, I challenge you to go into it with 3 dps, no heals, and tell me how cool it is. I’ve done this 25% of the time. And it sucks. In the time of doing 50 adult hunts, I used 3-50 heal stones. That’s quite ridiculous.
Furthermore, being knocked back or stunned by a dragon roar when directly behind the dragon or in the 90-degree rear arc, goes against the physics for sound and air movement with the use of wings. I know the dragon is an Apex predator; however, even they have limitations. Not with these dragons. The Black Dragon is the worst of them all.
The Shadow Dragon drops and does its AoE, even when I have the Black Dragon between me and it, my character wets and sharks themselves in terror flees. There’s NO indication or AoE area to see. Just another developer’s cool idea in controlling player’s characters to slow and limit their dps output. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve raged about that in my stream. I know how y’all operate because of my own experience as a developer, different genre, its all about doing things to slow the flow of battle. Making it more difficult to play or even win.
Lastly, when the party wipes, it must start completely over. This just caps it for me. If a player is killed on the first dragon or second, they cannot continue. I’ve seen party members who died just quit because they couldn’t continue. Why? Who decided this was a cool feature of the dragon hunts? It’s got to be the absolute worst mechanic I’ve ever encountered.
In my opinion, Adult Dragon Hunt requires a complete rework so that players do not have to suffer through the things I have had to endure. And before anyone says it, I’m sitting with Item Level 75,605 gear, including my weapons obtained from North Dark. Everything else is either legendary or mythic (enchantments) with 10+ mythic comps and mounts. Anyway, this is my opinion on this topic. Whether y’all do anything, which I doubt will happen, at least I shared my experience, as awful as it was. I’ll not be doing that again, that you can bank on.

Add to this reluctance of putting modifiers in said adult hunts, and we get perfect slogfest.
It looks like general design problem. We got some content that works with parties of 3 instead of 5, and even use multiples of that. Imagine havin this in hunts - party of 3 for young, adult with 6, and ancient with 9.
There would be problem with trifecta, which dont work well with randomly generating non DPS role.
If any changes to this content will be added it might sadly take few more modules to be seen.
Paladin: Tank and heal
Cleric: DPS and heal
Warlock: DPS and heal
Bard: DPS and heal
So, the only class that might possibly have issues with the solo dragon is the Paladin. But he can tank his way through slowly. I've done it.
I know that if you queue solo you can get 3 dps group but if you want a more comfortable run, form a group with the roles you want, and adult dragons will be a better and faster experience

I was excited about Dragon Hunts.
But the RNG and the annoyance and the time to complete stuff just turned me off the whole thing.
Yeah I am lazy and casual as a player but Dragon HUnts aren't for me either.
Basic rule of MMOs is if you dont like something, dont do it find somethign else to do that you do like... or put up with the grind and the RNG
Sorry I have nothing constructive to add
After going that route for awhile, I ended up soloing 15 young dragons and unlocking ancients that way on most classes. The classes that hadn't gotten to 25 kills, I just finished with young dragons to give me extra numbers, although I ended up not finishing the 100 dragons and campaign on most classes.
None of the classes are particularly hard to do, given a decent (not maximized just decent) build. Have a summoned pet to give you Combat Advantage and some form of self healing, preferably not consumables. I used Redemption bonus on most classes, though Warlock and Paladin could easily heal themselves. The healing insignia bonuses recently got buffed, those might be worth checking out.
Besides I already purchased all the equipment I think I need for my first 3 toons and I even got some stuff for my alts as well.
But, as it turns out I do not really care enough about my alts to complete anymore of that and besides the new gear they came out with for the new mod is easier to get and adequate enough for them.
For all of my toons that still had only the vale pants and shirt they all got the new ones from the seal trader or from the new campaign area. Also, some of the gear from the seal trader I consider to be better than what they have from Vallenhas so I updated some of that as well.
Apparently there is some gear I will never get rid of as I still have two toons equipped with Tattered Exorcist Robes and three toons still equipped with Bralliel's Planar Bindings and almost all toons still wear the Divine Raid Hood from Avernus.
I still have 6 toons using undermountain gear because I like the way they work for my healer and tank types. Although there is no explanation for why my bard is still using the wyvern set.
But it's only a short experience. Kill a couple of them and you no longer need to fight adults in future. You'd be fighting ancients proper. Try ask for help in town, chances are some end-game players will show up to help in the short adult experience.
