It would be a one time rework and then never again.
At the moment we have different companions who we should use, because all companions have different powers and different damage.
What I suggest is:
The companions should do damage based on the damage of the player. So if Im scaled to 4000 damage the companion gets scaled too.
So every companion power should have a Magnitude damage. It should depend how long it needs to proc.
So for a 5 second power it should be less Magnitude then for a 10 second power.
The additional poison should (Xuna for example) should be an extra Magnitude.
A tank companion should generate aggro but only if there is no other tank in a group!
A controlling companion should have less Magnitude damage but the ability to control enemies for some seconds.
A healer companion should heal also based on damage on the char sheet.
A dps Companion should do damage based on the char sheet.
The Magnitude should be better with hihger quality. So if a green comp does 20 magnitude a blue one does 40 or whatever.
On Augument at the moment we get 7500 additional stats. Thats ok for now but if Item lvl increases it gets less an less important.
Because we get more stats out of gear.
So that people have to do something in the future there should be new auguments where the stats can go to 9500.
This way people start farming again for companions and upgrade them. And you can give them as rewards for campaigns special events or zen market.
On all the other companions you could introduce a mechanic. So for example if my damage on my char is 7000. My comp gets a barrier at damage 7000.
From this damage is calculated. If I go now to 8000. The companion is still only hitting magnitude of 7000 because this is a barrier.
So if I want my companion doing more damage for latest content there should be an option to train the companion that the barrier is now 8000.
This way end gamers still upgrade someting on the companions. Can use the companions they like. Have to do something while it not affects scaled contetnt.
In scaled dungeons the damage goes down to 4000 or other stats and my comp is able to go up until 8000 but is scaled down to 4000 as well.
You can even get new companions out with the barrier higher like 9000 and so on so people want to get them
