This comes from my Legend of Grimrock custom dungeon, "The Curse of Kaefin", a tragic tale surrounding four retired adventurers. The poem is a clue to a puzzle involving several dragon statues. In light of the new mod, I figured it's appropriate to post here. Enjoy!
'Twas Lord Berthold who first heard the call when cries came from one and all that fire and smoke rose unto the sky and horror and death down from on high.
The news was swift to spread of hamlet, town, village, all dead. The people begged for safety and succor when Lord Redmir rode boldly to the fore.
He sent his riders thoughout the land seeking all manner of men to band together to dispatch the beast, Lord Helfrin and his kin not the least.
The three gathered a greater host and beseeched Lady Delwenn of the coast. She ordered her navy to set sail and locate Lord Vargas without fail.
The navy did return, bearing the Lord to war and alongside carried yet two more. Lords Angil and Erebon of the desert sands were also willing to lend their hands.
A great host, seen never before by man nor beast nor god rode to war to find the Dragon, creature of woe and with courage and steel bring it low.
They had not searched long, for the Dragon was strong, and brought its full might to bear on the seventh night.
Fire, sword, tail, and claw, spear, roar, bow and maw clashed to end horror and dread, and as the sun rose the Dragon was dead.
'Twas not alone, though, the evil knave. The wyrm had taken many to the grave. Not least of all who died that fell night lay the mighty Lords who had brought the fight.
Seven Lords lay dead that dark morn, seven shields bearing bodies broken and torn. Seven bells tolling for folk to stop and pray for the gallant souls on that great day.
