What is master crafting?

I'm trying to find out what master crafting is and how to get in to it, if it even still exists. I'm not and haven't ever had an account on social networks or discord and don't want one. Is that info accessible somewhere that doesn't require an account to read it?

    In order to get into Master Crafting, you need a level 12 Guild and level 20 in a profession. There is an NPC in the Stronghold where you can buy recipe books that unlock a whole selection of crafts beyond level 20. It's a huge investment before you'll start to see profits.

    Thanks. So that's what the books the Workshop / Mastercraft vendor has in Strongholds do.
    It would be nice if the game it self explained this somewhere.
    (hint hint, devs!).

    Profits are nice of course. Does master crafting have other benefits? Like being able to make items that are actually useful, imbune items, repair items, or something/anything like that?

    Alchemy will always have useful potions, the Chultan level of MW won't really offer anything useful (aside from tool making) due to Sharandar stuff being better. I have not looked at the Sharandar MW yet (still a work in progress) but they do offer higher item level armors and weapons that people may consider to be BiS, or a stepping stone to BiS.

    So...?
    When we get a book workshops open in other zones?
    No clue what you mean by "MW" and "BiS".

    MW=MasterWork
    BiS=Best in Slot (refers to gear slots)

    When you buy recipe books, it unlocks another section of the the professions. Where you normally see the level break downs, you get Chultan and Sharandar sections. These are themed, Chultan MW looks like what Chultan NPCs wear, and Sharandar MW are Feywild themed.
