Invisible fire in Shores of Tuern reaper?

After trying the reaper for Shores of Tuern all day and multiple times, the final boss attacks with fireballs that leave an invisible fire AoE. This AoE doesn't appear for between 3 to 5 seconds but it still does damage. Is there a work around or anyone else on console having this problem? I've watched videos on YouTube where this isn't the case but it seems to only function correctly on PC...

Its not just a console problem. He will lift his hand and throw at someone, need to watch where he throws.
