Question About Storyteller's Artifacts

Last time around I was able to spend the zen to get three books, and I love having them on my primary character.

This time around, I have enough money to buy some pages (but not many...maybe three). And I have a question.

I don't USE these as my primary artifact. They fill the three slots that I have for additional artifacts.

If I buy a page that says it gives Cold damage, or Poison Damage, will that still apply to all of my attacks, or is that a function that only happens after you USE the artifact? The description is vague enough that I'm not sure, and the price is so steep that I don't want to just buy and hope for the best.

Are there any other benefits to buying the pages, or just the specific ability that is listed?

THANK YOU to anyone who can help me with this. The game doesn't seem to provide enough information to make an educated decision, and I've been working to scrape together what astral diamonds I have. I don't want to blow them on something I never use...

Pages only provide effects when you activate the artifact. Having them on journals you don't use actively does nothing for you.

Thank you - I was hoping that the wording on cold and poison damage meant that it was just a constant feature.

Does that mean that cold and poison damage lasts for a certain amount of time after the artifact is triggered?

Each artifact summons something which represents the content it came from. Envenomed summons a green dragon and the poison effect lines up with that.So the effects last for a while with a visual indicator.

When I read the actual item description for the first page that can be added to each book, it just says, "Adds a stackable amount of damage whenever you hit...after 15 seconds deal and additional 5% [type] damage."

It doesn't read as if it only happens (or really even could happen) only when the artifact is triggered.

The more I look into it the more it looks like there are 4 pages that are triggered and a fifth that is constant, but like I said, I don't want to gamble that many astral diamonds on a "maybe."

The only constant effects are the stats you get from having the artifact equipped.

The only reason you need the pages slotted is to get the main buff when you have the other one as your main artifact and they all make up one set. The artifacts in the 3 other slots while still giving whatever stats they offer being they're slotted, do not offer any of their individual talents. That is only when it is slotted as the main artifact and used, which is true for all artifacts. For these page artifacts, my belief is that they were created to be used as a set (this originally came from Tales of Old Event and people collected them as a set to use to get massive HP as they all added more the more which were slotted as part of the overall set buffs) and as such they needed stats to add as all other artifacts do so they have them, but in and of themselves they are probably not the best artifacts and you could find better ones to use in the other slots. (This is because you may like to have stats from the artifact at all times but also be able to swap that artifact to main for the thing it does in any given circumstance, are those pages going to do things you need to have happen sometimes or is that slot being partially wasted?) Most of the time what you want from those stats is to boost whatever stats you need boosting and you also may find that other artifacts give certain stats which you need more than the ones you currently have slotted.

edit: If you like the set buff and are using them for that then ignore everything I said above because it isn't applicable.
Apparently pointing-out the bleeding obvious is a 'personal attack'.
