The patcher cannot start the game

I have played neverwinter with no problems earlier this week, but as of this new update just attempting to run the game causes the launcher to crash. After entering the login and password, the moment the launcher displays the word "patching" it instantenously crashes and a black box with the crash number and a green button to restart the launcher appears.

Has this problem occured to anyone else and does anybody know anything to fix it?
