Wild Storm Elixir : Use: Grants you 350 additional Critical Strike (this bonus scales with your level) and increases your Critical Severity by 10% for 3,600 seconds.
Superior Flask of Potency +1:Use: Increases Power by 440.
Increases Recovery by 440.
Increases Critical Strike by 440.
Increases Critical Severity by 7.5%.
Duration 1,800 seconds. Persists through death.
These i call, Blasphemous Potions
Not only do these two increase critical severity by 17.5%, one is persistent through death.
Why would I try to keep my health or stamina above 75% and 85%? Drink one and die, don't even look back.
Considering that the item that gives the most critical severity in the game is Ribcage (5x2.5 = 12.5%), don't you think the extra from these potions is a bit exaggerated?
I don't want to mention the Watermelon Sorbet. It also gives 10% Power. Some enchantments and runestones are therefore quite cheap in the auction hall. Because people do not want to spend power and severity in main stats.

Ribcage is not easily accessible to everyone and their alts. My mains buffed, I know my goal is about 79% crit sev before ribcage proc's. Most cases my SW and TR run a bit higher so it hits 90% faster.
It has nothing to do with the enchantments, runestones, etc unless you have them to sell and can't. You can only gain 50% from your stats(ratings) after that it's potions and pets. I don't know a DPS class yet that has trouble reaching cap on crit sev, there are many sources. Armor reinforcement kits alone x 4 = 3520 ratings (3.5%) that can be crit sev, power, or crit strike for dps classes. My warlock gets 10% extra crit sev just for being a warlock. Barbarian has a class feat(barbed strikes) that adds a crit sev should you choose to use it.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the point of the post, sorry if I am.

With Mod 20 obviously some things have been balanced out, but if such potions continue to exist, some enchantments and runestones, and even some items will not be needed.
I drink,
Crit stats - checked
I drink a little more,
Power stat - checked
I drink even more;
And i say "High dps lfg Vos"
Let's sober up!
But that's not the route Cryptic have chosen and if they were to implement your thoughts, the net result would be "oh look, now we have even less stat sources". But I guess that'd be ok for you in the short term as at least you'd get more AD for those enchantments you want to sell.

The reason behind his argument is so short sighted and myopic as to be almost laughable - he wants a better price for the enchantments he has to sell!
Running with that scenario; hypothetically, Cryptic take him seriously and nerf potions to negligible effect but are unwilling to buff gear as it'd seriously impact player motivation to rank up their companions. He sells his enchantments, gets a nice bit of extra AD that he manages to spend over the course of a week or three, then goes into an endgame dungeon such as VoS or ToMM. Of course, now, the entire team have lower stats - significantly lower. The run takes longer & the probability of failure increases. Interestingly, he's now making less AD from runs and enjoying the experience less. It's fair to imagine that over the course of the next couple of months he will now lose much more AD than he made from selling those enchantments.
Was it worth taking such a narrow view? No.
But people rarely think long-term when wishing for instant profit.
