What I find wrong with the recent changes

The game now feels like I'm collecting points and not 'magic' equipment. One of the greatest thrills of the D&D game, is the joy of finding magic items that shape your character - gauntlets of giant strength, boots of striding, an enchanted elven blade, etc. These changes reduce all equipment to basically some ability stats and item level points - neither of which generate any excitement for me. Finding a ring that is 1230 power verses 1200 just isn't going to motivate me to keep wanting to play. I wish you could find a way to introduce the excitement of magic items into the game like in a tabletop D&D game...
