The current stat system has a few inadequacies:

Problem#1: Accuracy has very little value in the current PvE system
Problem#2: Deflect and Critical have very little value in the current PvP system
Problem#3: The current 90% double-column stat cap system is not intuitive and is over-complicated, causing number clutter.


SUGGESTED ADJUSTMENTS:


Deflect Severity: A deflection modifies incoming damage by.... 100 / (100 + 2xDeflectionSeverity)

Critical Severity: Critical Severity affect should be doubled. damage = 100% +2% per CriticalSeverity

Accuracy: Deflect Severity is reduced by percent of Accuracy

Critical Avoidance: Critical Severity is reduced by percent of Critical Avoidance

Stat Caps: Raise all stat caps to 100%, reachable by any means, with no subcaps.





This change retains the polar opposite nature of Deflection and Critical Hits, but increases their effect, so that they are near-equal value to the other stats. Accuracy and Critical Avoidance can still completely negate them, so there should be no concern with over-empowerment. With this formula, a critical hit with 90% critical severity would deal 2.8x damage instead of 1.9x damage that we have now. Accuracy and Critical avoidance are changed to a percent deduction instead of a flat subtraction. This makes low levels of Critical and Deflect more effective than before. For example, 30% Accuracy would lower 80% Critical Deflection to 56% (70% x 80%), instead of to 50% (80% - 30%).

With Deflect Severity at 90% a deflected hit would deal 37% damage with this system, whereas in the current system a deflected hit deals 52.6% damage. It cannot be over-stated how significant real gameplay is. In real PvP play, most opponents have some accuracy which can completely negate deflect severity. In real PvP play, critical severity is impotent because most opponents have at least 30% critical avoidance.

This system is balanced for PvP, naturally. For the system to work in PvE, enemies would use stats at or similar to:
Deflection = 50%
Deflection Severity = 90%
Accuracy = 25%
Critical Chance = 50%
Critical Severity = 25%
Critical Avoidance = 50%

The above system makes every stat debatably equivalent in importance. In our current system, Accuracy is the stat every DPS player avoids gaining in PvE. Critical and deflection are so innefective in PvP, they will be ignored when creating a power-build. Please consider implementing this change.
