Can't Upgrade My Gear - Milestone 4 Forge

I have armor from T1, T2, and T3 Avernus hunts and am unable to upgrade any of it. It keeps saying I need to take off my enchantments before I can upgrade my gear, I did that and unprotected my items and I still can't upgrade anything. I am still getting the same prompt. When I asked people if they were having same problem, they said it was because of armor kits, which I have on all my new pieces but there isn't a way to take those off.

Please fix. Some of this gear was really expensive to get and I can't replace it with unkitted copies.
