Upcoming Siege

aslan3775aslan3775 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 295 Arc User
It appears that the upcoming Siege of Neverwinter will not be 're-tooled' with new content. Of course we will see all the posts with the drop rate of blue chests--some praising how often, others complaining they don't drop enough or that some high level toon is 'collecting' them all.

With that in mind, would more people attend if the chests were not bound to character and could be sold on the AH?

Would that break the current epic chest values?

Thoughts?

What is the blue chest you refer to?
What is the 'current epic chest' you refer to?

I should have been a bit more clear.

The Siege of Neverwinter drops Basic Treasures of Tyranny, or Fey, or Dark, or gems/influence/supplies, etc. Those are the blue chests and they are bound to character.

The Siege does not drop the epic version (major treasure). Those are found in lockboxes and dragon runs in the Stronghold (and maybe some HE's in the Stronghold--i can't remember).

The epic version is not BtC or BtA. You can find them on the AH.

I was wondering if more people would play the siege if they could farm and sell the Basic Treasures that drop. As it is right now, you can't sell them.

Chests? Uh, are you talking about the vouchers? Those do not drop as well as they used to do in the past, but they are still worth farming, in particular for people in guilds that have not yet reached the max.

As for the rest of the stuff from the event, well, the Griffon is really nice for new players, and the battle horn might be usable by some builds, and then there are the dyes, if you do not have them already, and the QM enchants etc.... Overall though, if you have already participated in the event a few times before, it is norobably of little or no interest....I will probably be skipping it altogether, for example.

However, the ropadmap says Siege Event reworked in May 2021, so we can expect some changes and different rewards then.
    Hoping for improvements...

Unbinding the vouchers would tank the market, but it would also be good for lower guilds to level without having everyone farm until their eyes bleed.

Ugggh. (faceslap) Even after I tried to be a bit more clear, I still screwed it up. Yes--I meant vouchers. I don't know why I kept calling them chests. oops.

I tend to agree with @froger#9967 Tank the market but definitely helpful for small guilds

@adinosii --would you participate if they made the vouchers unbound? or would they need to make content changes before you returned?

I think being able to sell the vouchers is a great idea. Who cares if it tanks the voucher market all that is going to do is to help lower level guilds.
It would also encourage more players to farm the event.

And it would probably be a botters paradise, but I think the reward for newer guilds out weighs the risk

No....the issue for me is that the event overlaps the Redeemed Citadel event, and that is of much more interest to me. Also, I have everything from the siege, and my guild maxed out a long time ago....last year I did donate vouchers to other guilds in the alliance, but right now I am maxed out on GMs anyhow....

What could happen if those voucher are unbound.

    1. member of established guild/alliance do not care.
    2. young guild pays less to get voucher.
    3. Botting is possible and push voucher value lower.
    4. Less reason to do Stronghold events such as Dragonflight which will be abundant. For some alliances, it is a daily bonding gathering to do something.
    5. The AD poor players will farm it. Since many 'young' players will flood Siege event to earn AD, the guild that needs the voucher will get less voucher in the same amount of the time than before (they will have much more competitors who did not come before for mob killing). They can spend AD to buy though. I expect to see frustrated players will come here to complain, "I used to get 10 in half an hour, now, I get only 1".
    6. Lockbox has even lower value. One of the 'useless' stuff from lockbox is voucher but it still has some value. It will have even lower value.

Or the devs could simply increase the voucher droprate.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

The invasion of Bots in the siege would definitely kill not only the value of the vouchers, but also any remaining fun in the event.

I don't think unbound vouchers would be worth the risk of bringing out the Bots.

Oh well--for those helping with the Siege--good luck and may your drops be plentiful.

I rarely consider botters because I primarily play xbox. I do see how they would cause problems.

My Guild is GH20 and most of the Alliance is too. But the drop rate of vouchers is why I don't play the event. I could use more guildmarks, but the drop rate isn't worth my time.

Siege used to be a huge guild event back when vouchers dropped at a reasonable rate. Mounts, companions, enchants, etc. used to be rewarded for donating vouchers.

The botters have been there for years on PC.

if they were unbound the market would tank to the point that no one would do the event at all anymore because pointless. who wants to farm for something worth 30ad. unbound or bound it's worth farming just for the gm you get. the guilds that need it already get what they need from it for free without buying anything by running contests and having faithful guildies who farm it for them. imo it's fine as it is. I wouldn't mind an increased drop rate though, and bound to account instead of bound to char.
