I don't know what else to say, at first I thought it was the combat log because I had been messing around with that (/combatlog 1 to turn on and /combatlog 0 to turn off), but I haven't had it turned on today and it's still getting laggier. Now my sentences that I type start losing the last one or two characters somehow!
I turned on /netgraph 1 and I have 200 ping. I don't know how much I normally have. This seems like some type of client lag, though, but the game is not using a lot of my computers resources and it doesn't seem to be using an extreme amount of anything (cpu, gpu, ram, disk usage) but again, I don't know how much it normally uses. Just that the game has been getting laggy over time since the last patch and I have to restart after an hour or two.

edit: I've tried a bunch of things, loading the stronghold, unloading the stronghold, did a bunch of map changes, a battle instance, and I did some SOMI lately so I've tried going on the boat to see if that somehow starts it, but none of those started the lag so far. So that's good, but also bad because I can't make my bug report any more specific.
I've found the /showfps 1 command, I can now say that FPS drops to about 12 for no reason whatsoever. The game is not using a lot of resources when it happens.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
- Start Neverwinter
- Invoke your characters (I dont know if this is relevant)
- /showfps 1 and verify that it is at a decent number
- Log out
- Verify that FPS is still at a decent number
- Leave your PC with Neverwinter open on the login screen
- Wait
- Come back and plug in your headset, causing a popup to appear over the Neverwinter application
- Go back to Neverwinter, FPS has dropped to 5
I have a feeling this has something to do with the option 'Limit CPU usage when inactive' under Advanced settings and have disabled that for now.
For me the loading screen bug (that is not the same as the one in this thread, but your random fps lag is probably the same as in this thread) goes like this: The loading screen starts, but the loading bar hangs around the first part of the screen. The game console (you can enable this if you want) says 'Waiting for new GameServer address from Gameserver [long number], via ClientMultiplexer at [ip]'. After waiting for anywhere between 30 seconds and 90 seconds, the game disconnects me.
It would be great if you could open a support ticket about this, they will ask you for your dxdiag and your network settings (like if you use a vpn, what dns you use, or what your provider is if you don't have a dns specified) and perhaps if more people report it they will finally do something about it...
It has actually been going on since Undermountain. Ever been disconnected while loading an ME?
Make sure you install the latest driver update for your graphics card.
Make sure you install the latest Net.Framework and Microsoft Visual C++.
Why set DNS? DNS is only set for one reason. If this is not set, your router will constantly search for the DNS internet server at times. You will have intermittent issues if you don't set DNS or possibly you will get Dns_Probe_Finished_No_Internet. As a gamer I know this for many years! Setting DNS allows your devices to search for the server instantly or your internet provider. Just do it! Boot up time for internet is faster after a microwave interference and power outage. Your devices is constantly looking for a DNS server! Your internet provider will thank you, because you are giving them less work!
Installing latest Net.Framework and Microsoft Visual C++ will do...Well think about it. All the data being sent from the server will be smoother and utilization will be a lot smoother for game-play.
. NET (pronounced dot net) is a framework that provides a programming guidelines that can be used to develop a wide range of applications–––from web to mobile to Windows-based applications. The . NET framework can work with several programming languages such as C#, VB.NET, C++ and F#.
What I'm stating is that all the code from the game will read a lot smoother. All the game's data is coming from your internet provider's DNS server and your internet provider is providing you their DNS server so that you can get data from Cryptic's server. Make sense? I have argued with many stubborn people with DNS! I don't know why? All I'm going to state is that your internet gaming will be much smoother and stable.

I have the 2015-2019 visual...highly recommend it!
If you still have lag issues? I can't help you. Either your internet provider service needs to be upgraded or you simply need new equipment! Docsis3.0 cable modem, ipv4/ipv6 router, and cat6 ethernet cables are recommended!
Happy gaming Doing all of this will give you stable game playing, at least majority of the time. Internet equipment will go wonky at times, so it's going to happen still, but less often or rare times. However, again it will be stable majority of the time.
