why is undermoutian so much harder now

blackwolftundrablackwolftundra Member Posts: 179 Arc User
sorry for making other post i just got done doing undermoutian on my fighter and cw in Lava Fields and after killing Yauhkuay and doing shadow's hold and Umbraxakar's Lair why do they make this hole campaign in the end so hard to do cause i don't remember it being that hard before at the end when getting new gear so why do they even bother fixing stuff when the campaign was never broken in the first place why i can not stand what they did to it for how I can not solo it like I used to and how the uprising quest that you started from undermoutian was never like that either so why fix something that isn't broken don't get it

I haven't been back to those places, but I will jump on and be sure to check this out. As for breaking what was fixed and working, they excel at doing it. They either assume, it was what the users want or they do it by accident. Unless it has a lot of users really upset, it will not get much attention. I could list a lot of things they changed for no reason, but I will give you just one such example.

The scarecrows in Barovia attacks were very much as the scarecrows in Lonely wood. I had much respect and admiration for the Ravenloft team and the development of module 14. But later someone decided to turn the scarecrows of Barovia into mindless hulks skinned as scarecrows. They even roar like undead hulks. Scarecrows are quiet and should ambush you. Why did they do this? No reason. Someone at Cryptic thought it was better. It is not better, it is predicable and out of character of how a scarecrow behaves. I do not respect their decision.

I will look at the Undermountain area and let you know my thoughts. If it is tougher, they may have done it for no reason. Why did they add scaling to the game? No reason, thought the players would like it. Why did they remove older dungeons and make them Tales of Old (aka Grand Retelling) claiming it was new content? No reason, thought the players would pay for the buyout option.

when i had bought my toons some decent gear in 950 they had no trouble soloing undermoutian where they never needed any potions as well but when i went back to undermoutian i noticed how things didn't look right after the change where my toons now struggle and cant even go through vampires or them nasty brain mobs after the change they did for how i haven't been liking undermoutian and how they make you ask for a group witch you shouldn't need

I ran some last night and unfortunately, I am running the Avernus armors (aka Juma's Bag o' Chicken gear). I stripped my character down from 20K item level to 12K and ran the first level at Well's End. Only died twice once to a distraction here at home. Also I have to say this wasn't a "fair test" as I have more health, boons, and progress other than the armors.

I have asked my friend, who has his roleplaying characters hanging out in Barovia, to check it out. His group is wearing item level 770 Barovian gear, and all 8 of mine was wearing that when they finished Undermountain last year. He will either get back here to post or let me know his thoughts.

I normally don't do the combat log data, maybe someone here can provide statistics from ACT? The combat log records mob damage and attacks and maybe someone has their old logs they could compare to a new one. While I didn't feeling the Undermountain has changed much, I did feel the mobs are more aggressive maybe? I will test again in the Lava Fields today.

I know I have seen them do a lot of changes to the game that I was not happy with where they should of just left undermoutian the way it was when it wasn't broken where I just find it now a joke since my a friend of mine tells me how much they hate that place as well and I don't blame them for how I know you use nothing but lame potions in that place for it not being very good

@blackwolftundra Why so hard? Possibly you need more companion bonuses, more insignias from mounts, some enchantments, and etc. Forgetting those is like going in a battlefield without any armor!

Player tip Energon gives 24K hit points! A must have bonus!

If you have any issues understanding your class? I will tell you why I selected my feats. Recently I changed one feat on my Ranger and I defeated Arcturia (the witch) very easily! What class you're playing?

it's not my toon that the problem they have been doing a lot of changes to this game where Undermoutian AI low level Dungeons where never hard at all and why I know that cause I soloed them without needing a group so don't tell me how to play or gear my toon cause all your doing is finger pointing without helping cause I know what the dev have been doing to the game so stop acting like you know everything cause you don't

@blackwolftundra Sometimes we forget the essentials that help boost the stats of our characters. I was just trying to steer you in the right direction, since you're going through the campaign and leveling; am I correct? Also I don't think Undermountain has changed on difficulty much. However by theory, what's awkward is that I've noticed from a friend of mine that an extra boss appears. I can't seem to figure that out, when all we are doing is one rune, so I wonder why?! However, she bought her way out on most of her campaigns so all boons are unlocked. So perhaps expeditions will get slightly harder based on boon unlocks, I don't know? Though you probably don't have other bonuses to help you with your character stats most likely? Also campaign expeditions are easier.

So do I know everything or not? Pretty much I do! When someone tries to help you, it gongs you on the head like, "Oh yeah, I need to do that! I don't have much insignias, companions, and etc for bonuses, thank you". The community here on these forums want to help you and all I get is an attitude "Don't tell me how to play!"

Fine use whatever feats you like, though NOTHING has gotten much harder, because I can solo mine! Might seem a bit harder as you progress with item level or boons, I don't know? Might feel that way all of sudden. Yet, can't be that hard! And for the record I had less bonuses and boons on my other characters/classes, which I figured out I needed more to complete the campaign easier! Also what helped me most throughout all my characters during Undermountain campaign is the bonus of 24K hit points from Energon and some other things. I'm not stating that you can't play, though what helps is something we often forget sometimes, which is those bonuses.

Also could be slightly harder based upon what rune you pick? I sometimes feel that way, though I think it's random on which mobs you get. What seems more true is that the first daily expedition is easier, then gets harder on second and third expeditions. Sometimes it's rather random on what mobs appear in the expedition, though I never had much issue soloing mine, since I got more bonuses for those characters, which I've been telling you constantly throughout this discussion! Otherwise I can't help you.

I ran my jeweler anarchist through the Undermountain and noticed no notable difference. As Wendy Black stated, I am primarily a role-player and don't get into refinement, weapons, gear, and boons. Reid has 3 boons on him, he was a level 71 rogue, I can't recall the name of it but he is the knife tosser. His companion is a poorly equipped rank 35 mercenary. Reid left the Undermountain level 72. I have my Thayan up to the cave to go fight a dragon, which I am told is loads of fun fun fun. He is level 80 and I don't know if that really matters ,when I put more thought into what my character says and less about how they fight, more about how cool they look fighting and less about their functional gear. About 2 out my 6 toons have weapon or armor enchantments. I purposely picked powers based on how good the weapon moves over the damage it does. .... maybe I am not the best candidate to judge Undermountain performance?

    Just killing time...

I know its not hard to do undermoutian if you have someone in your group sometimes I will group with people just to make it go faster sometimes since I did give a player that was 77 a blue crab mount since I think the potions in that place kind of suck for some of the monsters in there being to over powered

Not only that its not hard if you group up, There is no solo content which is 'hard' to solo at all.
The only Place where it gets harder actually is avernus if you are a fresh lvl 80 char and even there its doable if you Know how..
any other solo content from 70 campaigns, up to undermountains Last areas are even without a compagnion laughable easy to solo if you at least gear up your char from time to time. After that even the lvl 80 Master expeditions are easy to solo as new lvl 80 char it just takes longer.
