Was curious as to what the requirements for applying to the Owlbear shard are. I Would be very interested in doing some BETA testing. I tried applying but it just gives me error messages.

Well, I don't know if they are taking applications as such, and obviously I cannot speak for them, but in the past, the participants have been hand-picked, based on their reputations and history of creating content and providing feedback.
There have been a few time in the past where a closed group of people has been given the chance of testing content under an NDA, while it is still being developed. The results have been a bit mixed. As most of you might know, there have been cases where people violated their NDAs and leaked information, and there have been cases where some people seemed a bit too interested in profiting from their "advance knowledge", so the process is not flawless.
Overall, though, I feel the results have been positive, and have helped making the game better. I have been invited on two occasions, and while I am not allowed to mention specific details, I think I can safely say that the process resulted in some potential problems being avoided, and some issues not making it into the live game in the first place.
There is no guarantee that they will repeat the process, and even if they do, they might not invite the same set of people each time...I imagine they have a list of people who have provided useful feedback in the past and their strong/weak areas, and select from that list whenever they want to run a test of this kind. For example, I have zero interest in PvP, so if they were going to test some changes to the PvP system, I would not even want to be invited - it's just not my thing. On the other hand, if they were making some changes to the crafting system, I believe I could provide some really useful feedback.
