Impactful performance shutting my pc down

It's been happening to me for awhile that some powers cause my computer to shut down. Since mod 14, but this doesn't happen everywhere; some places where this occurs are: the mechanical worm's lightning attack, the 2nd boss in tong during the fire trap, the hands phase in halaster; also some powers from warlock and the artifact storytellers animation cause random lag.

Sounds like graphics intensive moments. While you are hoping that Cryptic will steamline their graphics... I suggest going down on your detail levels. Personally I use the absolute lowest graphics settings and i dont miss the detail at all. My problem, is that after my power supply burnt out from age... a company put in a lower wattage power supply. Now, whenever my graphics card draws a lot of power... my computer shuts down. It has never occured on low graphics setting. Its not flashy, but it may be a temp fix for you.

Yes, I lowered graphic details to off/ 0, etc since mod 14; ravenoft, but still occurring.

I ran this by my husband Brian, who said, "Sounds to me like a major mechanical issue with the graphics GPU being over loaded or over clocked and your PC is shutting it down to save itself from destruction. That user should get the PC checked as soon as possible!"

I poked my husband with a long stick too get that information. He also said, there are programs that will check the temperatures of your graphics card. If you don't have a graphics card and you are running the motherboard GPU then you are over heating your CPU. I found some DIYs on fixing a cooling issue cheap. Maybe not the best but super cheap.
    • Look for fans not working or running to slow.
    • Look for dust bunnies in the fans and heat sink fins.
    • Check fans and heat sinks are secure and mounted on the processors.
    • If a fan is in need of repair, sometimes a drop of 3-in-1 oil will work wonders.
You might say, "But this only happens on Neverwinter!" Maybe so, but it is a graphically intense game and you are talking about particle effects and shaders and a lot of BIG math that boggles my mind and makes smoke come out of my ears.

Good Luck with the PC! <3

When poking the husband with a stick, I hope you had bear spray in the other hand! Safety first!
