Castle Ravenloft - Campaign quest

Over the weekend I had one of my alts go into Barovia, and finish up the last quest to the campaign.
Its the last quest you get from Esmerelda, once you get all of Strad's items.
So I headed up to the castle gates, and started off OK, picked up the sun sword, and proceeded into the court yard.
As I haven't done this quest in awhile, I forgot about all the adds at the beginning of the courtyard, and died.
But where the quest broke, is that the sun sword drops inside the courtyard. So when I re-spawned at the beginning campfire, the sword was still in there, and the quest will not let you into the court yard without it. I had to leave the quest and abandon it. then pick it back up from Esmerelda.
