as topic says. or am i just stupid ? ,i have tempory my lizard shaman active, and normaly he is pretty good in healing. but now i have the idea i am eating 5000hp potions , so bad is the healing i receive in combat.
Pretty much all active companions are dead in the water since the release of Undermountain. There was a phase were at least some of the combat companions were dealing decent damage, with Xuna being the overachieving exception, but that was patched up recently.
I tested a few healing companions during the CTA event, but they just ain't worth summoning. And the last official Dev words we heard on the matter were "we're looking into it.", but considering that this statement was said several weeks/months ago, it's doubtfull that we're going to see any improvements here.
Perhaps some of the combat companions are still worth activating, i'm not so sure about it, since a few tests in Dread Ring against Training Dummies and "in the field" showed rather disappointing results.
Considering that active companions also have a tendency for drawing more enemies to an ongoing fight, it's just better to go with an Augment and to rely on healing potions and health stones for keeping your hit points up instead.

and simply fact, a normaly player wil never survive witouth a good healer, or gear, i am not saying i am overpowered, but some stuff is idiotic, including that stupid 15 second cooldown for use on potions !

My healers have no nerves left after all the ghosts that yelled at him, blaming him for their deaths.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.
As suggested before, the Devs should just use the players base weapon damage for calculating the companions healing and damage dealing, add a litte bonus based on the companions rank and the range of their abilities (melee abilities would have a little higher bonus) to it, and any companion would be worth playing around with again.
I mean, what's the point in having all those different companions, when most of them only end up as % boost to an Augment?
It also wouldn't hurt having a look at the "AI" of companions, and putting some work into it...

hmm, time for mod 18, where u can use a max of 5 companions at the same time, your own private party mode.
They're nerfed, and horribly. My healer doesn't heal hardly at all anymore. I've fallen in combat 8 times in tthe three days I've been back, and I'm really thinking about just walking away yet again.
Fix this, Cryptic.
