So I came back to Neverwinter after seeing all the mod 16 changes. I saw that Warlocks can be healers and realized I miss the old WoW Shadow Priest. So I started leveling and figured I look on the forums...
I saw discouragement, and so my question is. Should I keep leveling, or choose another class?
Thank you in advance!

Hi frostshade. It depends. Do you want to play heal or Dps?
I think as a healer a Paladin or Cleric would be the better choise.
Warlock dps is okay later in the game. There are better dps classes like Wizzard, Rouge or Ranger. But the warlock is fun to play
And the class meta can shift fast with some bugfixes or class changes.

lol. Still posting in the forum.
Haters gonna hate...
Specifically, buffing warlock; The devs never listened to SW forum, and the simple lack of concern for the class in general has made me lose hope that they ever will. The only time they actually did listen was back in mod 14 or 15 when I suggested that MF should work on all fire based at wills and powers, which in turn did boost our overall dmg. It certainly surprised me however, that they would listen to such a random post of mine over other amazing theorycrafters such as fernu, kolatmaster, and mirajane, just to name a few. Feedback from the playerbase can drastically improve gameplay and QOL for players who want to invest their time or money into a certain class and they just dropped the ball time after time.
But I get it, they're working with a skeleton crew, and in m16 they had to simplify and remove a chunk of content that made the game great because they just couldnt manage it properly and juggle magic the gathering at the same time. they can't do much to turn around the ship at this point. I would hate to see it sink, but the direction the game is going atm indicates just that.
Mod 6 drops ''game is dying''...
They remove coalescent wards from tradebar store ''game is dying''...
They remove ad from leadership ''game is dying''...
They nerfed bondings '' game is dying''...
They nerfed bondings a 2nd time ''game is dying''...
Rework professions ''game is dying''...
Remove foundry '' game is dying''...
Mod 16 drops ''game is dying''...
Anyone noticing the trend? Bottom line everyone that says this always comes back or never leaves... it has been like that for 11 mods now, in a couple of months drops mod 18 and most of the ones that left will come back as usual to check it out.
I will add I don’t play LoMM etc so getting into groups is not an issue. If that is your concern someone else may have better advice.
No reference to warlocks other than "percieved" issues with dps which is basically code for not taking responsibility and is underperforming.
So once buff adjustments complete warlock will further fall down the rabbit hole untill something impactful for the class changes. At this point warlocks are back in the same situation after the obc nerf. Back then they acknowledged right away and promised a fix with a few mods.
At this time no solid statements other than they will continue to watch and gather even more data, that they said they would do during preview, and after launch. It's been 5 months now with out a single improvement, even with multiple threads concerning the issue and conpletey ignored by devs. Look at every patchnote since preview regarding warlocks. Only fix so far have been regaurding "cant heal at all, I push button to heal and insta die, or everyone dies, only blatantly broken" hack fixes. With that in mind dont expect any improvements anytime soon.
Sad that any midgame wizard, ranger, trickster will perform better than maxed endgame warlock and pally and cleric at midgame perform better. It really is that bad in that it's nonviable endgame for tomm, but possibly as soulweaver at maxed endgame while honestly cleric or pally better overall for all content.
The class is dead, mostly abandoned by endgame warlocks running other classes or quit playing altogether.
It is literally the worst performing class for both roles out of all classes at this time.
Hellbringer will work outside tomm as many stated but I can't find any good aspects about gameplay buffs and synergies of that path, it is more a desaster tbh.,set up maybe by a practicant in 1 hour or 2, who even did not care about the class and maybe felt more like being punished to be the one to deal with it
Actually, most of those folks never came back. Sure, we'd eventually get more new folks into the guild to fill, and then lose others at the next kneecapping change to the game. I haven't played in months, partially because all 6 of my toons now have unusably full overflow bags, and need to be completely respecced. it's supposed to be a game, fun, not work. That's why people have left the game.
Our guild has nobody left that remembers the Gateway, or were Foundry authors. But, apparently, that's not a problem for Cryptic...

But I'm not giving up on it. I could never abandon it. You mentioned leveling, and that content's still definitely open. It's a finer, more crooked line we have to walk than before, but it's still worth it imo.
