Event Lengths and Protector's Jubilee

Hi There,
It used to be in a time long, long ago that when Cryptic did an event like the Protector's Jubilee, it would go on long enough for everyone to be able to get the top "prize", if only 1 of them without having to purchase the special currency that got you the "prize". It now seems that the events are not running long enough to get the top item if you do not purchase the special currency using Zen. For instance, the Protector's Jubilee is only running for 7 days. The top item, the Garden Key, takes 15 statues. Now, with the Jubilee running for only 7 days, that would leave you short 8 statues short. Why should I have to spend Zen to buy extra statues? Is Cryptic that short of money?
Protector's Jubilee is just one example. The Neverwinter Siege did not go on long enough to get the new mount without purchasing the currency from the Zen Market.
