Hi all,
I've been thinking about this since the Q&A Tuesday. I did not get to watch it live but I watched the whole thing on Twitch. I think it was great that Tom was brave enough to put himself in the cross hairs and try to reassure us that they still cared about the players. I played the beta so I had an idea of the changes that were coming and I freely admit that Undermountain is beautiful and fun as hell. Did i enjoy having to rebuild me character? Oh hell no. Did I enjoy having to relearn how to fight when by abilities got changed? Again, hell no. It took days of changing and testing to get my rogue anywhere near where I was happy with him. (A nice gesture would have been to give out some free retraining tokens, BTW. I am sure I am not the only one who kept going back and tweaking thing.) When I was ready to go and play, Undermountain was everything I had hoped for. When I went back to start hustling for some rAD and completing old content to harvest boons is when the trouble started. Like everybody else, I griped and moaned. Filed bug reports, contacted customer service. I dropped my play to minimal levels. Since my HEs got bugged it cut into my guild contribution so my work on mastercrafting got put on hold. My plan was just to ride the storm out which was why I was really excited after watching the Q&A. The common refrain to the vast majority of issues was "Now that the leveling is fixed, that's taken care of".
Tom, you told us leveling was fixed. I think that there are a lot of players, who like me, were willing to ride the storm out, especially after you telling us so many of our problems would go away Thursday morning. Thursday morning was like opening the Christmas present you'd been begging mom and dad for and finding it was broken. And like the parent of that disappointed kid you tried to distract us with other presents. 2XrAD, a new pet, all the discounts, and double rewards!! I found myself yesterday getting ready to buy Zen to get the Coal ward key bundle and I stopped. Would I keep going back to a restaurant that never got my order right? Hell no! Would I keep going to a mechanic that forgot to put new oil in after an oil change? Again, hell no! Because I don't trust them. And right now Tom, I don't trust you. I don't trust Cryptic. And it's going to take more than some crappy presents 2X rAD to win that back. BTW, what good is 2X rAD if we still can only refine 100K/day? OK, that was just snarky.
Tom, the message here is that before the Q&A we thought you had just jumped the gun, now we think you're playing us. It was a good move taking Taimat and DEMO offline. It would have been a better move to keep your promise. I might see you later, I might not.
You are going to have to earn back my trust,
Wag
