Insignia refinement is awful

We spent millions of AD on our epic insignias of dominance when they became necessary. Now we have to spend millions more because the devs thought, for some reason, that we actually missed the old need-a-duplicate-enchantment system that we, in fact, despised for years, and wanted it made even worse?

Just require some reagents from the wondrous bazaar, please. This could have been designed worse but why do it this badly?

I'm amazed they went back to the old refining system for insignias. They clearly said it was bad/convoluted for players when they removed the old system.

Yet here it is again. It's like someone wanted to design something different but had no creativity whatsoever and just fell back on old method.

Yea, It would have been better even just to be able to salvage the insignia somehow....green giving 1 point, blue giving 8 points, epic giving 25 and you need 50 for an upgrade or something like that.

This looks like it's meant to encourage players to buy more/bigger bags ;)
    Hoping for improvements...

I don't even know what it is, just have an alt full of inventory of things I don't know what they are (just an old week noob here), but already scared of this system here. I will just play till works without, and then goodbye.

They should follow the enchant method. Now we have the same old problems with enchants. Inventory space full of insignias (different colors, different bind status...), Bad insignias being a problem, etc. I wish I could "salvage" an epic bad insignia to refine a good one.

To make this a little more productive:
This would be a lot less painful if we could refine lower ranking enchantments to make all the duplicates we need (but needing duplicates remains a terrible idea and a huge waste of bag space).

We should also be able to craft insignia. This would at least give crafting a place in this mod since otherwise it's completely useless until new recipes are introduced.

In short: this bad idea is also a missed opportunity and could easily be turned into something sensible and not just an additional source of frustration for players already beset by this mod's many poorly executed and poorly conceived changes, e.g. scaling.

Cast your minds back to August 2017...

"Refinement is a core part of Neverwinter gameplay, but a lot of the time it could feel like it was weighing down on you as a player. The pure number of items that needed to be held on to, the matching bonuses, the different reagents for different artifact types, and yes the hoarding of items until the 2x Refinement Points weekends to maximize the gains. In the end it felt more like a chore that had to be done than a fun part of the game where the player kept making progress."

    April 2019...

"But... we're doing it again anyway... it's not EXACTLY the same, so not QUITE as bad, so we can technically claim it's different, but we all know the truth, don't we."
