Returning Player

Hi all, founder and returning player here. My husband and I were playing back in 2013 when the game released and my main was a CW. I have been gone for a long time so obviously I will have to re-learn everything, but I am just wondering if I should work on what used to be my main or if I should just start from scratch with a different class (if so, which classes are the most sought after?). I did a lot of reading and it seems that CW are not doing so well anymore. Is this true? Information out there on this matter is a bit confusing. Thanks in advance!

CW isn't top dog like we were back then but doing ok with the latest build (Master of Flame Renegade)

The only classes that can be truly said to be sought after are Devoted Cleric (annointed champion) and Oathbound Paladin. Other classes that offer buffs generally can get into groups.

Except DC and OP, a lot is conditional to the groups you run with though.

And even DCs are borderline optional.... I'd also throw in that GWF is the easy button DPS class.

All that said, though, CWs are still really very good. They're just no longer the only class anyone needs to bother playing any more, that's all. Both CW paths (Spellstorm and Master of Flame) are extremely viable depending in the party and it's need. SS will be higher DPS and MoF will be better for buffing (but isn't bad at DPS either). Unlike back when you were playing before, a CW player needs to understand their class a bit - it's no longer a button mash fest and everything dies... if you want that, go play a GWF :)
