New with some Learning Curve Issues

I just started playing Neverwinter last week. So far I'm having fun, but I'm a little frustrated by the learning curve and gated game functionality. There is a lot going on, and I can't seem to find any current newbie guides. Notice I said "current", because there is one that I saved, and have referred to...but it's at least 2+ years old. I have 1 devoted cleric character who is level 34.

Also, let me get this out of the way. I can't buy Zen right now. The store page does not like my credit card. No idea what is going on. Therefore, anything requiring Zen/AD is impossible right now.

Anways, I am super confused by a few things, and hope someone whose been in the game a bit can help me out.

Auction House - It appears the AH is gated behind AD. Without AD, you can't use it at all. Am I missing something?

Invoking - Been doing it since level 11. Not sure what the point is, so far I've gotten a bunch of refinement mats and once a low level companion rune thingy. (The Enchantment thing is a bit confusing, and I don't know all the correct terms yet.) Do the Invoking rewards get better at higher level? And what the hell is this Rough AD thing? Too low level to be getting Rough AD.

Scroll of Identification - Do any NPC in Protector's Enclave or in the starter zones sell these darn things?
Disclaimer: I use them to ID class related gear loot, and the occasional blue armor or weapon of another class, so I can get the 30+ silver for it. I can't seem to find enough just to do those 2 things.

Gold - Not sure why we even have gold, as it's only good for a few things that after I'd guess, level 50 or so, are meaningless. I got 2 of those Waukeen gold/orange loot chests from the event, opened them, and got absolute HAMSTER. A HAMSTER green rune thingy, and a (and this is the real kicker) cape that is an "appearance item". Not only is it ugly, but changing the appearance of things costs...wait for it..AD. I do see that in professions, it might be useful. I wish I could sell gold for AD.

Companions - I rolled a Cleric because I wanted to learn how the game works and survive meanwhile. So far, it's funner then I expected. However, maybe (or not), I goofed on the free companion. I selected the Healer. It's great not using tons of health pots, but I'm not sure this was a good idea. Maybe I should re-roll and select a Melee companion? Since I can't do Zen/AD right now, I'm stuck with the freebie companion.

Professions - Wow, the system in NW is way different. I've played a lot of MMO's over the last 2 decades, and the Workshop is pretty darn neat. However, I haven't been able to find leveling or even progression guides regarding professions. I read somewhere that the profession system is broken. Should I bother with it? I mean, it's not like my gold is good for anything else so far.

Class - Any "current" good leveling / end game guides good for the Devoted Cleric? So many options.....I have points just sitting because I don't know what to pick.

Thanks in Advance!

The game is a few years old, so there is alot to do as a new player, just keep plugging away.

Up to you whether you want to reroll or not.. but if you want to hit me up in game, Ill just send you some free comps that will get you through the game (if your own pc anyways) I might have some mounts you can have as well. I can throw you some gold as well.. no biggies.

I wouldn't bother with professions much right now, it will take a bit and alot of AD to get it cranking .

Also, you could've made some AD during that waukeens event by selling your bags.. it wouldve been the wisest thing.. no issues, more events to come. Next time dont be afraid to ask in the forums, how a new player can make the best way during each event or whatever..

The biggest currency in game will be AD, but right now just concentrate on leveling and learning your character, later on when you hit 70.. work towards getting through he early campaigns (or start the AI campaign, it gets you a free r14.. and its a good one)

Shoot me a mail at @silverkelt when you get on next.

The game seems complicated and well, some of it is, until you can figure it all out.

I am on PC, and gosh darn, I should have stated that. Sorry! And Silverkelt, you offer for assistance is awesome. I started with professions because I ALWAYS craft in games. I just want to get it started, and when it starts to cost, I'll put it on hold until I am
more stable. I can assure you, I have not hit 35 by sitting in the Enclave tweaking my Workshop, hehe.

I have a mount, so not sure why I need more. As for gold, the only thing I could really USE guild for is to sell it for AD, and then use AD to sell stuff in the AH, to gain AD a little at a time. Also, I could NOT sell those bags, because I did not have any AD, which the AH charges to post items. I had a total of 160+ bags, and got bumpkis from them. Ah well.

Finally, today was the first time I COULD POST IN THE FORUMS. The Forum mods have newbies locked from post. I registered in the forums on Friday last week, so it took..gosh 5 days?

I will for sure TRY to hit you up in game today, at some point. The social part of NW is unkown to me at the moment. Thanks for your reply!

You have stuff.. mounts have insignia bonuses, you use the insignia in the them to open up certain powers.. I sent you a few of both to start with and a few r7 enchants and 5-6 different comps or something to that.. oh and some artifacts, I sent some of those to you as well.

I didnt send any gold, you have to trade for that.. but i can get you some gold bars or something you can sell for it if you still want some..

    have fun

I got all the items you sent and thanks so much. I'm not quite high enough to use all of that stuff, but I do have storage space. Thanks so much!

As for gold, the only thing I need it for is to sell on the AH, and funds for the Workshop / crafting (which so far are minimal though I could sure use another Alchemist, which I read is the easiest and cheapest to level.)
