1 is kinda a bug, your crafters seem to run out of warlock armor recipes by lvl 20. my warlock is miffed.
More importantly is the backlog on the crystal exchange. I find it puzzling that
STO never has a backlog and Neverwinter has a huge one. What is the difference ?
Phoenix Lockbox events every couple of months creates a big crystal 'sink' that keeps the exchange
more balanced.
Neverwinter does not have an event like that.
For the non-STO folks, in the event, you get 1 free box per account per day but you can buy
more...a lot more, using DC in NWO it would be AD.
Box comes in 5 rarities.
rarest has best items, least rarest has fun cosmetic stuff. almost all is retired rare loot.
BOP - so you can't sell it.
You can always trade a rarer box for 2 of the next lower boxes.
Least rare box, you can trade 10 for a fresh box to try your luck again
Least rare boxes can also be traded for very useful crafting points (tech points)
Neverwinter could use the same model.
least box could be traded for green wards that are better than usual ones (maybe they have a 5-10% chance to survive a failed attempt)
resistant wards...or something.
POINT BEING
event to buy boxes to find cool retired goodies (BOP) or refining stuff
DO NOT sell boxes directly for coin. NO NO NO NO that will make the exchange worse.
AD for boxes....1 free box per account per day. all goodies are BOP
do the event for a week at a time every couple of months.
should help exchange over time.

The problem is that this game just doesn't have as much "limited-time only" stuff to put in those boxes.
There are a few "retired" items but not many, and doubtful enough to reproduce the Phoenix boxes in this game.
I question how much impact the Phoenix boxes have on the AD/Zen exchange anyway.
