The point of the Workshop at higher levels (3 and 4)

First of all, I want to say that I love the story line for the shop, appreciate the cut scenes and artwork and development of the city. The professions adventure adds quite a bit to round out the experience of the characters.

I have played long enough and done enough crafting to have quite a few purples in each category and on each character (8). I think I used them like most players, generating AD when it was possible, and generating RP and Mimic Fodder otherwise. I like the new system with all the new recipes and items that really make 'game sense'.

I also have to confess--I have absolutely no idea why I would make 500,000 credits worth of items to upgrade the shop? and then 5,000,000? If you examine it from a story line, no accountant/retainer in the world would agree to that exorbitant fee. The first upgrade is worth approximately 250 medium level 'high quality' items, which could be roughly 100-250 gold in commissions, (assuming you don't cash in on old inventory). You would bleed a sweatshop dry. If not at level 3, then level 4. It only makes sense if you were planning on taking years to accomplish that task.

If you look at it from a cost benefit rather than just an enormous gold/resource sink, I don't know what the benefit is that would justify the increase in shop level. Does anyone have an answer to why a person would increase their shop?

well, from 2 to 3 over time, I guess it's for the added crafting space (6 slots) also, chances at blue crafters and also you can retain 20 artisans.....not sure what the final call was for lvl 4 for artisans (24, 25, 26?) in preview it was 32. At lvl 4, you unlock all spots in your pickup box and have chances at the purple divas for applications

Well, I guess it lets you craft more intensively if you want to.
You get more delivery box slots... so although you can't make more things at once it means you can leave it for longer before emptying.
You get space to employ more artisans, which means you can be more effective in each profession or expand into more professions at once.
And you get a better chance of attracting higher quality artisans (blue and purple), which is probably required to make the best items.

It's very expensive, but you need it to do the best you can. A bit like upgrading the black ice forge...
