New Companion - Deepcrow Hatchling?

So while wandering through the collections page on Preview I came across this new companion .... a "Deepcrow Hatchling" At first it looked promising; Three Offence slots and an active bonus of +1500 power. Then, I realized it's an augment ...

I am guessing this is planned for the new lockbox as one of the big prizes (along with the Deepcrow mounts). But why an augment?? Despite the last buff to runestones (and corresponding nerf to Bonding stones) Augments still under perform bonded pets by such a large margin they are generally shunned by most of the player base. An augment which boosts power and has three offence slots is clearly aimed for the DPS crowd, but the fact is this will perform so badly that I cannot see the majority of players spending money on lockbox keys with the hope of getting this.

Mod 14's lockbox featured the Razorwood, which combines a good runestone arrangement, relatively easy to get gear slots and a useful active bonus ... which is why even at the end of Mod 14 here people are still opening lockboxes hoping to get one. That's not going to happen with the Deepcrow Hatchling.

Every power-sharer will want one, I don't see a problem. If the companion ain't buffing/debuffing, it's only the active bonus that matters. How many Razorwood companions did you see summoned?

Agreed. Only AC DCs and OPs are likely to care about this since the active bonus doesn't compare favorably with the bonuses offered by the current BiS stable, even at 1500 stat points.

Not every companion, or mount, or piece of gear will be an automatic BiS. As it is, outside of some +Power companions, there aren't any real must-haves for us powersharing types. And even the +Power companions are debatable. At least with a DPS character, your biggest decision is Fire Archon vs. Siege Master.

I'm hopeful that with the changes to the Masquerade companions, and the stats we're seeing on the new companion, that all companions will be getting their stats adjusted in the next mod.

The only problem with this is that companions of pretty much any sort usually don't contribute to power sharing .... if this one actually did, that would make it useful.

What? Last I knew, every '+Power' active bonus was included in base Power...
    Yes, you are right.

I will use it as dps.
I never cared for bonding or powershare or powerlooping.

I hate paying taxes! Why must I pay thousands of dollars in taxes when everything I buy is taxed anyways!
