As a storyline, the module is probably the best due to all the characters that are included and the use in a number of places of more single-player platformer style mechanics.
The down side is the time-gates that break the campaign up into a long boring slog. Not allowing you to simply play through the story and enjoy it.
My question is, why keep the time-gates as the module becomes less and less relevant? Why not make it enjoyable piece of content?
Players get far better gear by jumping to Barovia or using seals. Other than boons, there's no real reason to bother with the campaign at all. As something that adds to your progression, it's almost pointless at this point.
Why not:
Keep the story line and campaign.
keep the weekly rewards.
... but change the Bruenor quests to something that can be batched (like Sharandar).
The one-a-day time gate thing is pretty obsolete. Seems reasonable to phase it out.
The storyline itself would be more relevant, especially to new players who are still leaning the game.
The way the campaign works now with the time gates, your toon is way overpowered for the content.
I'm thinking the module would probably be better off shortened and focused on new players. Keep the content and licensed characters, but make the module entry-level friendly.
