Please explain me the refinement system

I played Neverwinter a long time ago, and now I'm trying to come back.

There was no refinement points then, and to create a stronger enchantment I had to fuse lower level enchantments together.

The new refinement system seems good, but I'm concerned I haven't found a single enchantment up until lvl 30. At this level, I remember finding lots of rank 3 enchantments from normal loot and from monsters. And now there are simply no loot at all.

So, questions:

1) How I'm supposed to constantly fill my equipment slots while leveling?
2) Should I buy several rank 1 enchantments and then just refine them on each new piece of equipment?
3) How can I get enough reagents (mar of potency) to keep refining my equips (I also can't find reagents as loot)?
4) Seems I can buy marks from AH, but they require Astral Diamonds, and guess what?.. I'm also not getting any Diamonds from loot. lol. Seems I'm stuck with this new system...

In other words, the game is throwing lots of equips with slots and I don't have anything to fill them (except for rank 1 enchants form the store).

Enchantment and runestone will not drop from random mob anymore. It may drop in event and dungeon.
You should only fill it up when you ready to upgrade. i.e. you have enough RP and mark and whatever require.
There is not much point to partially filled the enchantment in general.
You should not buy rank 1 unless you have enough material to do that from scratch. It is properly cheaper if you buy higher rank to start. I recently notice rank 1 of an enchantment is more expensive than rank 3 in AH. :)
If you mean marks. They comes from various place such as from invocation, leadership box, etc.
For higher rank mark, you can find them in Wonderous Bazaar.

You need to learn how to earn AD now. That will be a different topic.
    Typical rAD earning methods are:
    Random Queue
    Salvage
    XP reward (needs luck).
Somebody probably can point you to the right direction better than me.

    Typical AD source:
refine from rAD (I know but I just want to include it).
    selling to AH
    from Zen (usually means money)

    Thanks for the answer.

So, basically, I need AD to fill my equip slots with anything higher than rank 1. And to get AD, I need to sell something to AH.

I'll take a look at the AH to see if I'm collecting anything of value at lower levels that I can sell.

You get AD by refining rough AD that you earn doing random dungeon runs.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

If you are running your daily dungeon, you will get seals of the adventurer. You can use these seals to buy rank 5 enchantments. When you get higher, there are enchantments that you can run in utility slots that earn enchantments, refinement items or bags than can contain those or other things. Most players suggest a combo due to cooldowns and limits. At level 30, you don't have access to any/many utility slots.

also check blue gear that you get, most blues are salvageable nowadays, and you can earn rAD doing weeklies also

    Hey guys. Thanks a lot.

I was able to get a few hundred AD selling low level stuff on AH, such as lockboxes. I don't want to do dungeons, so my only AD income will probably be from AH really.

But anyway, while elveling I'm constantly getting new equips, so I don't think worth refining anything on my equips. I'll probably only spend marks to refine runes on my companion, since his slots seem to be permanent. Makes sense?

I would just wait to do any refining until you're higher level. There's no rush and you'll learn more about the game along the way. This can influence which runestones and enchantments you decide to use.

I don't understand what you mean by permanent. You can always take the enchantment out from older gear's enchantment slot and put that to the replaced newer gear's enhancement slot. Same for companion's runestone slot. In that sense, enchantment is as "permanent" as runestone.

Plasticbat - I think he mean item that are bind on toon. ( permanent )
Leasm- With the new patach Ad are account bound to all your toon. At same time you can refine only goes up to 100,000 per day and per account.
For other refine system - gems / items / runestone / enchantment they can all be refine and anyone can use it or sell it . Certain item with say account bound or bond to char.

Nobody should upgrade account bound or character bound enchantment or runestone.
He talked about: "I'll probably only spend marks to refine runes on my companion, since his slots seem to be permanent. ".
The only place he used the word "permanent".
When he talked about slot of companion, that can only be runestone.
With the exception of Overload slot, I don't know any other slot can make something "permanent".

I don't understand what you mean by permanent.

I mean I'll always have my companion, so worth refining enchants on his slots, since these enchants will stay there for a very long time.

On the other hand, I'm always switching equips, so the only way to save good enchants is to keep removing them (which costs gold, AFAIK). I tried removing some enchants from slots, and I understand I could do this eventually, but I don't think I'll have enough gold to keep removing and attaching the same enchants over and over.

You'll have enough gold. You know those stupid platinum plates and jeweled things that only have a silver or copper value? Pick those things up every time they drop. They only stack to 20, but the money from selling those to vendors stacks up fast. I have over 2300 gold on my warlock mainly from selling those, and that doesn't include 1000 that I dropped in my shared bank.

Still, I wouldn't get carried away with refining runestones or enchantments right now. Just save up the refinement points and wait until you've really figured out what you want to refine. It's going to really suck if you end up refining something you later decide you have absolutely no use for.

    1. Your companion will not stay there for a long time.
    2. Unless you are talking about having bonding runestone or you are running an Augment pet, your runestone will be replaced eventually if not soon.
    3. Unless you are using bonding runestone or running an Augment pet, your companion will not help you as much as enchantments in your gear.
    4. If you are running an Augment pet, eventually, you will eventually use an non-augment pet and bonding runestone.
    5. Gold is something you can get a lot if you want to. Even the character I never let it to fight one battle since it arrived PE and more or less never leave PE has over 4000 gold. Pick up all the junks and sell it is one way. Do leadership is another way.
