Dungeons and Foundry

Apologies if I'm bringing up old ground here but, after having returned from a rather lengthy break from the game, I've discovered many changes some good and some not so good. I don't mind change when it's beneficial but there is one I just can't fathom.

What on Earth happened to dungeons? I remember looking forward to doing them. They were good places to play with other people as a team (there were five players then), everyone was in the same level range so everyone had to take part and the rewards were quite good. Now they are open to all levels from 15 (I think) to 70, and it's nothing but a "rush through as quickly as possible because we don't care we just want diamonds" kind of thing!! WHY??? How does this benefit low level/new players? How are they supposed to learn how to play with others in a team and learn how to be effective in dungeons when level cap players are rushing through one-shotting things? That is when they can be bothered to hit anything at all since I've seen plenty just run past everything leaving the lower level player(s) to struggle. This happened to me on more occasions than I care to remember. As far as I know this is only in the standard ones not the epics etc. but it is not good preparation for the epic/mythic ones that come later! What was once a very enjoyable experience has been turned into .... well I'm not quite sure how to put it politely. And now we have the random queues which seem to be the only way to get the AD from dungeons now. In one way, this isn't a bad idea at all but, when you end up doing Cloak Tower and Master of the Hunt almost all the time and not really getting any of the others, can get a little monotonous!

Then there's the Foundry. Ok, this isn't a major deal, just a little disappointing but I remember being able to do a daily foundry quest which was a win-win for all. The player got some AD and the authors had people playing their creations which, in some cases, were really well thought out and quite challenging. I really can't fathom why the daily foundry was removed. I, for one, would love to see it re-instated.

I realise these things are probably set in stone now and won't be returned to how they used to be but, as a returning player, I was disappointed and felt I had to have a little rant! Thanks for reading!

Agree on so many levels. I miss Foundry Quests, they offered some variation that's become a bit lacking and you could pick something to suit your mood.

With dungeons right now. . . I have a level 70 CW and I always, always try to take my time going through a dungeon because I'm aware there's often a low level player in there with me, so I take care of enough enemies without bogarting them so the newer player is getting SOME sense of achievement if it's their first run through (or even if it's not) rather than following some jackass who's just charging through the dungeon - as you say - one-shotting everything. Because where's the fun in that for anyone?

The system now is a real mixed bag, and a bit of a mess. I did Caverns of Karrundax today and there was me, a lower level - I think - Cleric and, unfortunately, a level 70 TR who was just avoiding combat, stealthing, then going around sweeping up loot after the two of us had cleaned up the mobs. And this is behaviour I've started seeing a LOT of, unfortunately, especially in skirmishes, Master of The Hunt being the absolute worst, some people are just hanging back at the start until all the mobs have been killed and then go around picking up loot - and these aren't low level players with low gear scores, they're level 70, just not wanting to put any work in - let alone working as a team. And you can't even kick them because the delay to do so is too long now, so you're stuck with it. And that to me is symptomatic of the system being broken.

I also wish they'd give more diversity to the random queue. Dungeon-wise, it really is almost always the Cloak Tower (fine) or Cragmire Crypts (absymally designed, dull and stupid with traps - no fun at all to do) And what the heck ever happened to Throne of Idris?
