Hair, why can't we throw dye at it?

orb6orb6 Member Posts: 9 Arc User
No, really. That. Why can't we have non-standard hair colors once in game? we have a biomancer (Re-customization) in form of the Tower of Alteration. So, why can't we get different hair colors? Or, if you want to take it a bit further, things like tails from Teifling on a human or elf. Or what have you?

There could be so much done with this, but I would simply be happy to put crimson hair on my Moon Elf.

Cheers.

I assume that is more Wizards of the Coast's doing than anything. They have some pretty strict rules about certain things. I could be wrong though.
My opinions are my own. I do not work for PWE or Cryptic. - Forum Rules - Protector's Enclave Discord - I play on Xbox

It isn't a simple trick. I have often asked my husband about "skin" changes. This is how he explained it to me. All the armors are most likely shades gray in color. Then they add an overlay, a transparent filter to dye the parts. First issue, they would have to gray all the hair (unless it is already) then set the hair up to be a transmutable item. Then all the player's data would have to be messed with in the database to add yet another line of information (hair color) to what appears to be a very long list.

It probably would be way easier for you to use the appearance change store. You get a free shot after level 70, at the beginning of "Cloaked Ascendancy" campaign, there is a quest "Chapter 3: Going Undercover" to disguise yourself. You can choose to make the change or not at all. I have been told you can make the change permanent.

Yeah, you would think, but like I said, you can't chose colors that aren't standard for the race. So no red haired moon elf. Also, that option is bugged right now it seems I tried it and it didn't work. Put in a bug report, but well... nothing.
