Why play until Ravenloft?

B4 u go nuts at me please hear me out. I hated how hard it is to get into t9 codg etc. But now theres no point in even playing till ravenloft. Why waste time and scrolls running or attempting to run these or any dungeons? Ravenloft update basically says if ur level 70 u have competitive gear if not better than people who have played for years. Things went from one extreme (impossible to get gear) to (everyone has bis very easily) i dont plan on playing until ravenloft drops because it makes no sense to farm when everything is being changed to get super easily. What will separate players is enchantments obviously and leg mounts which are not farmable. I wish it was a rare drop chance or something because I've opened hundresds of dollars in keys over the years on multiple consoles and never once got one. So a new player joins gets gear everyone worked hard for and spent ad and zen chasing they spend that zen and ad to get a leg (some people have crazy rng from the get go) plays a little here and there and is better than people like me who are daily players? Im at a loss right now. Whats the point minus a few events that wont make or break a char anyway. What am i missing? Im excited for ravenloft nevertheless but until its release whats the point of farming anything or better yet wasting time trying to get into these dungeons?

Just an couple comments. If you have completed all campaigns and boons up to Omu and have your artifacts/enchantments etc up to the level you want, taking time off is likely a good idea. However, even though some equipment is going to be easier to obtain, that equipment will not help you learn the mechanics of Codg. That is learned by running it repeatedly.

This is nothing new, each of the last couple mods have made getting high level equipment (Not BIS equipment in most cases) easier. I expect it will continue for some time.

in order to vivify the gear you'll need to do codg still and the gear dropping from ravenloft will not be easy to get. you'll still have to do the new dungeon which is way harder than codg or tong. also ultimate enchantment marks that drop are salable and a good way to make money to buy things like legendary mounts and enchantments. during the last 2x rp i dropped enuff ues farming codg to buy a leg mount if I had so desired.

Not trying to be mean, but if you feel burnt out, you should leave (at least for a while), the game won't go anywhere and you'll probably enjoy it more after a break.
It happens to all of us from time to time, and it really isn't that hard to catch up

Honestly, there really isn't a reason to play beyond:

    - Complete campaigns
    - Upgrade Enchants/Runes/Artifacts
    - Gather AD

Gear at this stage is near impossible to update since no-one decent runs To9G, if you brute force it by having anyone in your group 14k+ it doesn't count; and since Avatar Orcus is so badly designed as a boss it makes runs pointless.

Cradle is simple compared to dealing with Avatar Orcus, hell even Ravenloft's boss is technically easier.

The new Relic-type 520 weapons are given to you by story quest and all the reagents needed are not difficult to obtain either so if you don't already have Primal Vivified, they are made equally good purely based on acquisition viability alone.

At this point if you're burned out, take a break until Ravenloft.

If you're coming back, like myself after 2 months in hospital then just ignore armor/weapon upgrading as long as you have at least RD weapons and Pilgrim and Hunt armor and focus on AD, enchants and such while completing all your Campaign stuff.

ok in all honesty.. I find myself not playing except for special events. this current special event isn't worth it. I did the dailies every day on the gods one on all toons hoping for a forgehammer. but just logging in for my key otherwise.. lol. I'll be farming for summer event... basically the special events are the only thing honestly keeping my interest atm. my only goal in this game is mercenary. and I really don't have anything to spend ad's/zen on. no goals to keep me going. I don't honestly care about vivified personally. yeah.. imo they need to update all the special events and have them regularly. I've always said so...

Its sad log in get key pull a junk pack repeat. Buying keys usrd to make sense but now all i get is junk insignias, adventure packs, profession junk and so on. The newer lockboxs are junk who wants an infant gorilla thats worthless to use or sell. Glorious boxes cost too much to buy from ah but hell its worth getting decent things i guess. Used to pull companion packs like crazy which turned into rp from the runestones and upgrade tokens so it was never a total loss. These new packs u get most of the time are junk. 125 zen for a dungeon key pretty much.

paying a little for good boxes to open is never a bad idea. I don't open the soulmonger box. I wouldn't open glorious resurgence either. I'd either save my keys for the next lockbox with the bat swarm or I open the merchant prince box. there are a few other good boxes to open still too.

Uh, no... that's not the case. With Ravenloft you get two things - you get the Vistani gear pack, which is great for any brand new level 70, but basically just salvage for anyone else. You also get much easier access to Primal gear, as seals of the Brave will now drop in easier content. That is "competiive", yes...but it is only a few items. You will not have true "end-game" gear just because you have those few items - you still need a lot of work to get your enchants and companion gear up - that's where "the people who have played for years" have an advantage.

Anyhow, the Primal gear is the third-best gear for most classes. Second best would be Vivified Primal and having that is basically a declaration that you are good enough to farm CoDG. The top tier is the new Barovia set, and collecting that is far from easy.

But regarding what to do until Ravenloft - farming ToNG and CoDG for UES would be my suggestion - or do easier content if ToNG/CopDG is too hard for you.
    Hoping for improvements...
