Annoying spell/ability icons

Hi all, when i'm in a party, the icons of the spell/ability buff effects, that affect players, add up on our portraits , forming long icon queues that extend ,sometimes as far as to the middle of the screen. They can obscure my view during gameplay ,so i was wondering if there is a way to disable them from showing on player portraits. Thank you.
