{pc} Game fails to run after last maintenance/patch

after patching the game, I've tried to run on multiple occasions..checked all my settings and drivers... I keep getting pop up that "Windows XP is no longer supported, you must use a higher version of the game...blah blah blah". I am and have not ever, run the game with XP, this pc is running Win10... anyone have suggestions? I had also tried running in compatibility mode for Win7, 8 and Vista with no success... same pop up occurs.
