Graphics Error, Screen Blanks

jamvarujamvaru Member Posts: 37 Arc User
I had to open another instance of Microsoft Edge to complete this. After trying the steps as I outline below I was unable to access the window to finish posting or change the text. All I could do was click and drag the window around, wherever I clicked. Obviously this is probably a Radeon error, but maybe you can do something I can't about it. Anyway...

I will transcribe my efforts as I had typed it before, then list my system specs.

When equipping an item in inventory and it asks for the OK to proceed the screen will go blank.
only running in windowed mode fixes this.
I got it to work in fullscreen (I think) once with minimum settings, but it happened again. IDK.
Running in windowed but not maximized mode works for now.
I can duplicate the error right now in fullscreen mode. When I tried to do it with the error reporting tool open it worked ok, the screen did not go blank.
I am going to try it one more time now...

The screen goes blank when doubleclicking item, in fullscreen mode.
Trying min setting (graphics card is at min already)... it did ok, no screen fade. I clicked only the postprocessing radio button. The screen faded to black.
(end of transcription)

My MS Edge locked up just after this next step:
I turned the postprocessing off again. I messed with the cpu settings till I got to shadows. On high shadows the screen faded. On medium it also faded. I turned the shadows off, and it continued to fade (when trying to equip the item). Then I went back to Edge and found it locked up.
I was able to open another window of Edge and type this report.

I don't really know what else to do. At least I can play in windowed mode, which is nearly as good, just a grey bar along the top. I have some screenshots to include.
One is showing windowed but maximized, achieved by trying to move the window above the top of the screen, so windows then automatically maximizes it. In that mode the screen DID fade. This was before the most recent round of testing listed above.
The second screenshot is showing the windowed mode with the dialog window showing, to see that it does work ok in that mode. And this also shows exactly when the error occurs in the other modes.

Interesting that I could also play it with probably everything but postprocessing and shadows.

I would also note that this occurs in another game, Elder Scrolls Online, when the character moves into a recess where presumably more shadows exist. Moving back restores the display. Perhaps you can forward this to amd or however these things are done. What do you suggest I do? I will do what I can to help. I'd like to be able to run fullscreen.

So, going to try to include the screenshots and I guess that is it..
Oh, system specs.
mmm, lemme just do a screenshot of speccy... tired of typing, and I can't remember it all exactly.

amd a8 3850k, I think
radeon rx 560
8gb memory
etc.

lol, it just occurred to me I only need to switch to windowed mode to click this one OK button, then I can switch back to fullscreen with max settings.

in first dungeon, first chest to open, happens when loot dialog appears; decided to just stay in windowed mode

it happened again; turns out it is a monitor setting; it has various modes; the standard one works ok, the game one glitches; some extra setting or something, idk
