Crafting for auctions

I’ve had some success selling low level stuff I have crafted in the auction house but since have stopped since I hit 70 because others of similar level just don’t have a reason to buy common, uncommon, or even most rare gear. But I just unlocked Artificing 25, plus started the masterwork quests. That opened up the elemental artifact weapons. I check the auction house and not many are for sale. Is that because the materials are rare, or do they just not sell well? Have the newer mods made those weapons obsolete? Just curious if I should invest the materials into any except those I’ll make for my own use. Thanks to any that reply.

The materials are not really rare. Elemental weapons for most classes are just unneeded. The Chult crafted weapons sell for much less and work fine until you get what you really want(River District, Twisted, Titansteel etc.). Some clerics still want the Burning set, but I don't know about any of the others with a steady demand. Of course there is an exception for role players, other sets are sometimes appealing to fit with their story.

I figured as much, thanks. I’ll make my own burning set but not stress spending my hard earned AD for enough materials to make all the rest in hopes of profit.

You might want to check the stats on the Chult weapons before you bother with elemental...the set bonus is not stellar but they are far superior to elemental.

I didn’t realize just how cheap those chult weapons were on auction. I made a burning symbol then was looking for cheap refinement points. I sure wish I had done that before spending my few remaining lessers on upgrading it. C’est la vie.

Yeah to be honest that market was decent before chult. It let guys go through the river district stuff ok. I wouldn’t try it now, but then i only sold them if i accidentally made the wrong set for a guildie. Did that a few times. Mistake profit for the win...

Now though the chult ones are easier to obtain.

Honestly, not worth it. Crafting both takes what, 3 Unified Elements? Ignoring the costs of 125 of whichever Elemental asset you need, the dragon egg, and the initial diamond req, those 3 UE's are costing 150k at the moment.

The chult weapons are identical stat wise to Masterwork II, River District, Relic, and FAR cheaper to make. I'd say sell those if I'm honest, won't be a lot of diamonds individually, but added up it soon increases.

Well... wish I knew UE were so expensive before I used them up. . I just had to buy the dragon eggs, which were only about 6k each.

If you plan to do high level crafting in almost any area (especially true for Masterworks), it pays to get Alchemy to level 25 on all your characters. You can then craft elemental aggregate and unified elements (Even with all Grandmaster Alchemists over 2 days and 4 days to craft) on alts and keep your main crafter free. Best time to level alchemy is during 2X professions event. Don't advance as soon as you have enough knowledge, run the experiments for the max number needed for each low level and then use the extras when the event is over on the higher longer levels. If you get the low level potions in advance and about 50K AD for rushing experiments, not research, you can get leveled quickly until you run into the weird change in procedure at level 20.
