So I'm really confused. I've heard in many places that they are nerfing the Owlbear Cub companion, and I don't really understand. This change is yet another nerf almost exclusively targeting SW's, and those who main them. I don't agree that the current output in damage of Owlbear Cub is Balanced on SWs, but their overall damage is significantly lower than that of GWF, HR, or even a well built dps GF.
The only reason I would ever take an SW in my runs of TONG, or any other dungeon for that matter, is for the templock healing, which this nerf hits really hard too. I'm not really sure why they are continuing to nerf an already neglected class. If they were trying to push SW's into a more support oriented position I can understand that, but butchering their already low damage output is ridiculous.
SW buffs are weak. Even with Pillar of Power, that's at best a 15-20% damage buff, when a good DC can easily double the power of the entire party. It just seems odd to me that they are pushing SW's further away from the META of groups, and into this weird state of neglect where no one wants them. If Cryptic intends to nerf the companion, they could at least buff the class in some other way. Increase their buff potential so that they are viable as a choice vs a DC, or give them damage from another source. Maybe buff the Damnation tree so that it's useful again, although I don't think that alone would be enough.
Warlocks are in a really bad state right now, and to be quite honest it will be very hard to justify taking one in a party after the nerfs to Owlbear Cub. I love this game, but I'm tired of squeezing every last bit out of my SW just to be outdps'd by a Trapper or a GWF because they choose a different class than I did at the start of the game.
