The Real Reason Some Content is Less Played Than Other Content Is...

The Reward is not Equal to the Time or Effort Required to Complete the Content.

If people can get the same reward for doing something that is faster or easier, of course they will choose to do the easier or faster content most of the time. I occasionally run different dungeons leveling dungeons or epic dungeons. However, anything gets old after the tenth time, twentieth time, one hundredth time, time you do it. If I don't get anything special for doing something that takes longer or is more challenging, why should I do it very often?

I know most people who play this game understand this, and I shouldn't really have to say it. But if the developers want us to play different kinds of content more, then they need to make that content more fun and more rewarding.

I actually brought up the idea of randomly queuing for dungeons and skirmishes in a thread here months ago. However, my reason for the idea was that a dungeon or skirmish would have optional class specific interactions. One dungeon might be easier if you had a rogue and/or wizard along, another one might be easier if you had a cleric and a paladin. A certain skirmish might be easier if you had a ranger in your party who could track an orc warband through a forest. Using random queues just to force people to play the same old content that they don't want to play much without making it more fun and more rewarding is not a good idea.

Also, the answer is not decreasing the reward for the things which are less time-consuming and less-challenging. For example, by decreasing the amount of Astral Diamonds that people could earn from low level skirmishes, they just made it practically impossible for people to queue for them.
