2 day ban for 3rd party items..returning player.. no items

So confused. A friend quit playing at mod 6 and came back 4 days ago. Got a email with a 2 day ban today for buying from 3rd parties which he did not do. My guess is he had such a bank of ad and old items? Anyway ban is total b.s. and trying to find a say to get him back in game. Any ideas?
