wait - can you post what they changed it to? I'm on PS4 and I think I have the same set up on my character as you guys did - does it get ugly?

I'm not in game currently so I can screenshot it...
But, when the South Seas fashion was introduced on PC, the "tops" had the the halter/vest part.. AND the sarong skirt. the "bottoms" had only the sandals and "bikini" bottoms....
So what that meant was... that you could have the halter top with skirt, and then put regular another "bottom" on...
In my case... my female warlock had the halter and sarong.. and then had the battlefield medics trousers... as i did not think the sandals went well with the look i was going for for this character. And... It came out rather nice and loved it.
When the new module was launched on PC last week... the sarong skirt which had been part of the upper fashion piece was "fixed" to be part of the lower fashion set.
So its not that it gets ugly... but.. it did render a rather unique fashion combination null and void now
Hope that helps you.

This is also a huge fashion setback for people that only purchased the "top" piece because the halter and skirt worked fine without the "bottom" piece. Now those people are going to be running around half naked unless they want to pay ridiculous AH prices for the updated "bottom" portion.

Well, I personally like the change, now I can combine the top with regular pants.

I liked combining the top with skirt with other pants as well. The bottom is not only a bikini bottom, but it gave you shoes. That means I can combine the bottom with other outfits like the Sun Elf top for instance if I wanted a short dress and have shoes. The only other way to achieve the look of a short dress is to go completely bottomless and have those idiotic bandage wraps around your feet.

Yeah that had me upset... I built a really nice costume with the sarong skirt and having the battlefield medics bottoms
It is very annoying when they do that. At least let us know.
