I personally don't care about people undercut by 1AD because I don't post for the lowest price and don't undercut. My posting price usually is at least 10% more than the lowest. 70% of the stuff I post are sold within 5 days. However, if there is a minimum to post undercut, that will effectively driving the price down in a bigger margin (there are a lot of impatient people). Yes, that will affect my bottom line. Hence, I am against it.

Wouldn't this have significant effects on market stability? If the market is restricted from charging the price that actually sells?
Undercutting is not unhealthy in a market, it means that your original price was higher than other suppliers would tolerate. Reducing the granularity of the undercutting increases market instability (and would likely cause higher prices to persist for longer, and would cause "jumps" in price).
Maybe I'm wrong, but if your price was actually "fair" then your item would sell given enough time. 1AD is not a huge price difference, and market volume for many items is significant enough to tolerate small pricing differences right that.
If your item does not sell, then it is a very strong indicator that your price is too high for the demand in the market. And then the incremental downward pressure on price from "undercutting" by other suppliers serves to correct the market price, bringing it down to the level that the market will bear.
I personally agree that restoring posting fees would help to bring down price inflation and undercutting behaviors, but it would also reduce supply in the market (so that's 2 pressures that will likely make prices rise).
Ultimately, I personally think that the proposed solutions would destabilize the market in a number of ways, and would result in more opportunities for abusive behavior, instead of less.
it sucks, when your trying to sell 1 item for 3 days and get undercut for 1 ad more then 5times I hope your mad!!
If those items cut below by 1AD are still listed, that means 2 things:
The initial price was at least 5AD too high.
It's overwhelmingly likely that the "reduced" price is also still higher than the market will bear, (you don't see the items that sell, only the items that don't sell)
Again, I understand the frustration, but to me it sounds like you'd like for players to be willing to pay more for whatever it is that you're selling. And you are advocating for a mechanism that would make it systematically more difficult to exert downward pressure on prices to correct those that are initially set too high.
We are all entitled to have our opinions, and mine is that the mechanism as proposed would be bad for the economy and bad for the players in general.
There may be a very simple way to deal with this 1 AD undercutting.
The only change needed is the ability to change your posting anytime you want (with some cooldown of couple of minutes or couple douzen minutes, cuz otherwise the server might not be able to keep up). The posting fee will stay that of the original posting, except when you change the value upward, because then the fee will need to be upped accordingly. This way undercutting is no longer an issue. Also, the market will settle faster around the supply / demand price.
Problem solved

hahahahaha the auction house worked fine before we had this no posting fee vip rank 12 lol, ok so look iv been here since before sharandar even existed, iv seen a lot,and one of the biggest things if seen recent is constantly being undercut for 1 ad in the auction for sometimes upto 3 or 4 days in a row and most times for 1 ad, all im saying is make it in such manner to were you cant just undercut for 1 AD, like when you go to bid on a item your forced to pay X amount more then the previous bidder, simple economics honestly, atleast if im going to undercut someone im going to do it for 10k or 100k or 200k not this small tiny annoying amount that just waste my time and everyone else when trying to conduct business.......... atleast that's the way it makes me feel to be honest........... it sucks, when your trying to sell 1 item for 3 days and get undercut for 1 ad more then 5times I hope your mad!!!
And this is coming from someone who has rank 12 VIP, and also has seen it from someone else account that has no VIP and either way speaking specifcilly upon this issue, Wether you have vip rank 12 or not, this is annoying ASF, that's from either perspective! and also my opinion on this issue, from what iv seen and from what some other folks may have seen.......... all I know is Its annoying ASF................
Lets try again. And if it helps you, or gives more weight to something as trivial as this, I'm around from much earlier than Sharandar.
The fact that people do the right thing as sellers and undercut you only by 1 AD, should have nothing to do with your emotional state. Not the game should be changed in any way because of your emotional and irrational state.
Why for the love of 9 hells, you think for a second that if someone was forced to undercut you for more, they wouldn't done so.. The AH is a market not a first come first serve queue. You are trying to sell a companion pack when thousands of lockboxes opened and the market is flooded and think you wont get undercut? This by itself defies logic, but still, back to listing punishments: So the same 3 people, or others, would have posted, prices would have dropped more, market still flooded, people still want to sell, now the nominal prices is lower by tenths of thousands and you still didn't sell....
Great job !
Now you pissed that people undercut you by thousands, lower the prices of your pack to nothing. You pissed like hell and go to the forums to post that Cryptic should disable the undercut limit.
yea go ahead troll and rage some more ill get the popcorn.......
