Giant Nothic Stone-Eye : Cheapest Boss in History?

destrowoddestrowod Member Posts: 484 Arc User
Ok im all for having hard stuff and such and actually the dungeon was pretty fun until that point, we where trying the portals, beaten Kabal wich was a fun battle and then that boss... CHEAP... CHEAP...CHEAP !!! Like super cheap. The problem about him is he is just unfair. The "eye" attack would be fine if it would happen 5 times total during tbe battle. But the problem is its one after the other back to back to back... you just dodge a push and bam eye again... barely no time to react and put a couple attacks. And its fast, like this attack is barely 1 secs and a half to turn around.

This attack should just happen once every 20% of health or something along those line. This totally turned me off from this dungeon... i spent 2 hours in it for nothing... i want nothing to do with it anymore.

First there was MSVA and the no dying achievement, now this... is that the new trend of fun of the devs to put cheap stuff? Cmon now...

I agree with this, it seems the best way to beat this boss is to burn him down so fast he doesn't have time to make his moves...sounds just like Orcus...

It could be a fun boss, but you are right, it is not, you often either can't see the animations, or they happen too close together and you are stunned and pushed off the edge before you realize it.

I cannot get past it with a moderately well geared group, it seems to need a near max level group. I gave up running this one too....

I don't mind the boss when he acts predictably, it's when he bounces off a mirror he's staring at and it doesn't debuff him I get pissed. Also a few times he's done the jump with no warning, that's BS. I also think it's a terrible mechanic he can knock your companions off, that's why you have to burn him down fast, you have no bondings procced.

I think the only way is to have a "burner" group as some of you said, wich is bad. I hope down the road they do something , either nerf him or that next couple mods content make us strong enough to burn him down. Then please no cheap stuff. But sadly from what i heard from the PC version and the next dungeon, it could not be the end.

Its not bad... its an endgame dungeon... this boss is actually quite easy if you pay attention. Learn the mechanics and dont freak out. Its fun... its a change true endgamers have been asking for. If its to difficult for you, then maybe your character isnt quite ready for endgame content. It doesnt hurt to take your time and learn from your experience. The easiest solution is to find a core group of people and practice. Try different things, experiment a lil bit. Who cares if you die 100 times or if it takes you an hour or two to complete. Its the fun you have and the friends you make that count. I just dont get why everyone wants everything to be nerfed. Get good... not everyone wants every dungeon to be easy... you have plenty of easy ones to choose from.

I don't know if you guys have it on x-box - I'm from PS4, but we learned you have to turn off aoe targeting assist on him because you can't face away properly (especially on a pally) if you have aoe target assist active. Once we turned that off (most of our group didn't even know it was there in the first place) we were able to face away from him properly and prevent turning to stone.

LAMO (people always find something to complain about bosses in this game), I disagree!

If you just get the simple routine done yes even without the mirrors around you it's a piece of cake fight. Meaning just pay attention to 3 things:

-Beware the red eye, turn your back
-Avoid getting hit by his heavy swing attack (the support classe have less struggle buffing / savin your azz)
-When he about to jump, red pulsing floor just stay in the middle (wait it out) and also cancel your attacks/animation/casts whatever just to be safe

And if the group is full of s**** "vote to kick"....

I play this game since pretty much launch, i was a bit slow at first so lets say the first 3-4 months i have not play "that much" but after that it became a daily thing. My character SHOULD be able to do these type of things. Yet i am not a "burner DPS" because i could not get lucky at the RNG game. Obviously a 4000 mount would help instead of my current 2000 and i could use rings +5 but i can't even get my second +4 that i need (sudden precision) despite having played CN a great number of time. Got some shards of orcus... that i did get, But ring wise... nop. Just recently got FINALLY a brutality +4... that tell you, despite having done edemo so much.

I take a look at my character and the only thing i can really improve anymore is enchants (i got a bunch waiting at 11 to go 12 but it cost a fortune to buy the wards/marks) and insigna, but again the ones i need cost a fortune in purple, hell even in blue they ain't cheap.

For the rest, there is only the storm king thunder content i have not, cause honestly i refuse to waste my life for this, again playing the game of RNG (but on a dungeon 10x more tedious) and the weapons are a mix of RNG for marks and gathering a million component.

I was gonna work on the river district weapon but then i hear new weapons are coming for 12, and suposely now the armor will be purchasable with seals (at least)

Honestly tell me whats the point of farming like a mad man if its to replace your stuff 1 or 2 mods later...

I know down the road, maybe in 2-3 years spellplague will ne "easy" as they will keep releasing new stuff and we will keep getting stronger, but it sucks to have impossible difficulty on release. Im a rather solid DPS even if not a burner, but we had a burner and pretty solid cleric and GF, and yet we couldn't make it because the boss didn't die in 25 secs...

And im sorry but "learn the mechanic" is not the key. That stupid eye attack is literraly a spamming one, its one after the other after the other after the other, can't even do 2 shots before another one. Even Shao Khan in Mortal Kombat don't spam that bad....

I just dont get why everyone wants everything to be nerfed. Get good... not everyone wants every dungeon to be easy... you have plenty of easy ones to choose from.

No and thats the problem. Queue as a DPS for stuff and lets see how long it take... The only stuff that pop in a decent ammount of time beside the baby dungeons are

    Throne
    Kessel
    Shores

Those 3 are not even dungeons but skirmishes... even ELOL wich was doable back then in a decent ammount of time its not the case anymore cause the horn is not relevant. Valindra and Malabog ... forget about it, nobody play this, not even in guild/alliance exept on rare ocasion for the temple quest.

My grip is that i was 3.7K before the change to item level, so fairly high IL, and i didn't had augments in my rings and my utility are just rank 9. Thats stuff that gives IL but in the end does not make much of a difference. I have an orange companion, 2 bonding stones 12, one 11 ready to upgrade, obviously since they change they made the underdake rings not usable for companion i had to improsive but still gave it my old personalized ring etc. All of this to say im not HAMSTER...

Yet FBI is a real pain, a scroll of resurection eater and every run i do peoples glitch the last boss cause without this it would be even worst.

Master svarborg i usually manage to do it fine (exept forget the no dying achievement) but to do this you need 10 peoples and again randoms only look for clerics...ocasionally tanks, the only time i could do it is in alliance and lately it seem even in alliance its only clerics that are wanted...

You get where am going? The only way to do stuff in this game beside the same old 2-3 skirmishes is to beg your guild (especially the clerics) so they run it with you...

I would like to be able to sign on to the game, just pop a random queue and do stuff... Im not always feeling like joining a 10 men party of the guild and ask everybody if they want to run the stuff i want to run...

If the really super hard dungeons where a GUARENTEED piece of equipement that you could trade or sell, peoples would be willing way more to try it. Honestly there is only a few peoples that want to do Spellplague, cause the rewards are not good for the insane difficulty it has.

It seem my routine on this game is get on it, do my weeklies on monday, then do baby dungeons, throne, go gather influence, do some river districk when i have time, rinse and repeat... Its just a work... a chore. Not even fun.

They would definately need have incentive to play dungeons, like every week end there is a feature dungeon that can give something really good, to motivate people to do this one. And release 2-3 new fun and not too hard dungeons that are NOT baby dungeons. Just ETOS type...

Speaking of ETOS, its the only one beside CN that is even played... nobody bother with the 2 other cause reward vs time spent/difficulty is not worth it. Again a problem in this game.

Anyway i know some peoples will say i made a rambling wall of text but i had to. Its time the dev do something before the game goes in decay...

You do realize you have the same chances for good drops even in the baby dungeons, right? Ive pulled epic mounts, artifacts, etc out of all those you listed.

Dont like looking for a cleric or long que times? Why not make a cleric then? Instant que pops on anything you que.

You cant keep doing the same thing week after week and expect the game developers to change the game based on your schedule or playstyle.

Maybe you need to change your approach to the game. Maybe you should try a different class. Maybe you need to find another quild.

Not sure if you remember or not but we were in the same guild when you started playing. Weve had the same amount of play time and i have a completely different view of this game. I adjusted. I made multiple toons. Im in arguably the best pve guild on xbox. I dont have these problems. Still think they should change the game for you?

I think it is a very common opinion that the stone eye is the worst boss in the game. I have been in a lot of melt groups and even then it does not always go well. I think that there is only one change that needs to take place and the make more time to avoid the stun. That is all that needs to be done.

Honestly i don't remember who you are by your forum handle. I dunno wich guild you are refering to , its either "Relax its just a game" or Dread Legion. Altough things ended badly for me in both of these guilds, i hold much more bad feelings over Relax. In Dread Legion the peoples actually helped me so much and i was able to get tons and tons of AD and this is what motivated me to continue in the game. Too bad the leader got completely out of touch at some point and everybody was leaving because of his bad behaviors. This is why in the end i got booted by him, because i tried to put some common sense in his head. But he was narcissic, only interest in himself and saw all the members minus 5 or 6 as hired guns to fill his coffer..

Anyway, i am not interest of changing guild, i love the peoples in my guild and they do all they can to help when they can. The roster does not change every week because peoples leave in pursuit of getting "a bigger guild". I saw what a mercenary guild was and im not interest in this anymore. If i didn't found Rebel Souls im not sure i would still play the game to be honest.

So you seem very easy to compare myself and you but do you realize our lives may be totally different. I have Neverwinter fatigue to be honest. Been having it for a while. I can't run 15 dungeons back to back as i used to do in the old days. The mods have also changed a lot since when we where suposely in the same guild. There was a time when doing Sharandar to completion for instance was a matter of 2 weeks, maybe less, but i remember it didn't took much time. Now its a matter of months of grind...

The game changed and the flaws i was easily overlooking back in the days really show more now. Maybe YOU are still happy to run the same dungeons 10 times every day, i can't do this personally.

But i can reply to you on one thing, i am NOT making a new character. I did once when i made my DPS. I did not abandon fully my tank at that time but after SKT and River Distric, honestly its such a chore to grind it to completion even on a DPS, i would not see myself doing it on a tank. I invested too much time on my GWF, buying the right artifacts, upping them, getting the right companions etc etc.

I could maybe switch all my ranks 12 and 11 and put them on my tank, i could switch my bonding runestones as well, but even the simple tough of having to do SKT and RD again is a no go for me. With a cleric i would not only have to start from scratch but also learn how to play it. Ill only do that if i get a PS4 and i go for the platinum trophy as that one is not so bad on PS4(it was thanksfully released before SKT was out) Yes im a bit of an achievement/trophy "hamster" as they would say here.

And yes i know there is completion token, i could take my tank and start the new mod with him probably and eventually just go back and use those tokens to complete the 2 current campaigns, but they are extremely expensive, more than i can gind diamond for and at the same time pay for my VIP and superior marks etc. And im not paying 50$ a token or such... NO WAY.

I have been playing this game for 2 years and a half now, at the very least, so i figure i should be able to be end game without having to either drops hundreds of $ or rely on pure luck. Speaking of luck, finally pulled out a legendary mount after all this game... i hope that 4000 power does help. Still have to equip it and test it and all, but thats at least that.

And honestly as the guy said above, even with a melt group sometimes it still goes sour. The boss is cheap, thats just a fact. Its one thing to have hard stuff that need good characters, but when the sole point of the dungeon difficulty is a cheap mechanic, thats just not good. If you don't melt him in 1 min... he just start doing his eye attack and pushing every 2 secs... its one thing to avoid it 3-4 times, but avoiding it 35 times while still trying to do DPS ... cmon now.

You do realize you have the same chances for good drops even in the baby dungeons, right? Ive pulled epic mounts, artifacts, etc out of all those you listed.

Forgot to answert that. Yes in "T1s" you are able to get mounts and other gear that is semi-rare. Sometimes artifacts as well. Its not bad but its not what peoples look for now. And often they are bound too so not of resell value. I got a fair share of cool drops in malabog and i even got a cambius magnon or whatever its called in SHORES. Thats great ! But peoples seem to focus on wanting to do fbi and msp and these higher dungeons to get the special gear they need or whatever... Clerics especially are so in demand that they will go in MSP with the minimal IL requirement and people will take them... never you see "need cleric 15k minimum" That create a shortage for us in T1s...

As for baby dungeons (as in 3 man queue, non epic), NEVER EVER seen any good drops. Its always a blue item lev 70 that you can't even salvage and thats it. If you pick the daily key you get 200 seals to buy enchantements and another cheap blue and thats it.

BUT in any case, there is also one problem... there is so much fun i can have running the same 2-3 dungeons days after days. This game need COOL NEW DUNGEONS that everybody can do with decent drops. Instead of the same old events we keep getting all the time, why not a feature dungeon on the weekend, with the possibility of a special drop, making peoples run it !! You could circle all the dungeons in the game, and they could even add new ones. This game need variation and not redoing the same stuff all the time, even in its grindy MMO playstyle.
