Wich weapon should i take?

brb89brb89 Member Posts: 36 Arc User
HI guys, i have a little question: i have a templock, i usually equip aboleth weapon (+4%dmg and random effect). With all bonus up i can achieve 22k def, maybe more: i need last bonding 12 on def slot, i add only 4k def guild boon and im looking for better companion equip (with some def stat of course). Do you think lifeforged weapons can work better than aboleth? with 22k i can add 2300 power (= more than 5% dmg, nearly 6%). what do you think? should i change to lifeforged weapon? thanks for answering.

No. Even if you get 2.4k power, it's not going to translate to 6% more damage. Since with all the buffs from the party and all that you are probably over 40k power, the 6% buff on your base damage is going to be below the aboleth 4%

For templock is better if you get dencet lifesteal chance and just build it as you would if going fury path= capped RI, 100% crit and everything else into power. As for defensive stats, 10% - 20% lifesteal and everything else into hp.

Templock with respectable dps > any other templock build.

As for mod 11 weapons because of set bonuses you'd want either aboleth or fey, they both will help with dps a bit better than the others although the difference between all 4 is meaningless for everything except maybe pvp (mirage is how they're spelt?)

@naoqueroforum Sorry i don't understand: why 2.4k power isn't 6% dmg? (diminishing return?). Isnt better to stack power as much as possible for better result with buffs from party? or maybe the % from aboleth use some strange formula for increase dmg? XD

@jaime4312 i have 32% LS unbuffed. Im planning to stack power of course, dunno if i can achieve 100% crit (50% atm), but i think i have a good dmg for a 12k. Of coure i have to refine a lot of things (all my brutal enchantment are at 8rank -.-)

have some tips for insigna bonus?

I will give you an example to make it clearer. Assume you are sitting at your regular 80k power and use your killing flames with a base damage of let's say 1k. The damage will be increased by your power by 200%. So you will deal 3k damage. I'm aproximating and ignoring a bunch of factors of course, but this will give you an idea. If you add 2.4k extra power, reaching 82.4k, your damage will rise to 3.06k. That is 6% more base damage (compared to 1k base damage), but only 2% more total damage (compared to 3k total damage previously). Aboleth 4% extra damage is based on your "total" damage, so in case you have achieved a certain power level, it will be better than a flat extra power. It's not strictly diminishing returns, since every 4k power will give you exactly extra 100 damage (always 10% more base damage) in this example, no matter how much power you have. It's more about extra power being an additive bonus and the aboleth damage bonus being multiplicative.

There is one issue with Aboleth that has led me to go with Fey. I've farmed 3 sets of Aboleth and the 'dancing effect' obscures their animations. You still get the Red Splat from an AoE, but any visual tells like the mob charging an attack or preparing a heavy strike get overwritten. It can make it difficult to avoid those heavy hits.

The Aboleth set is half at least half fixed in mod 12, on preview, Only one of the 3 buffs triggers the dance effect, so I assume it will be fully fixed soon.

afaik the dot was always the only one of the three possible procs that made mobs dance, so I'm not sure what if anything changed here
