Hi there, I'm a new level 70 and I have absolutely no idea how to get my item level up to where it needs to be to do things like demo and Tia at (so like 7000 now?). Just looking for gear advice
First thing to do is get a proper set of L70 weapons. Not the free ones they give you. You're probably best starting with the Drowned set. You can either buy them from the AH if they are within your price range or farm them by running heroics. If you farm them you should buy a couple of water wands as they speed things up considerably - if you can do 13 heroics within 30 mins then you'll only need 2 wands. After you get a bit more capable you can go to the River District and farm your serious weapons.
For armor you can start with Dusk (tradebar merchant) Drow from the Underdark vendor or if you're in a guild you can get some Company gear to be getting along with or check to see if your guild has a Mysterious Merchant as they sell gear for Guild Marks.
Belt and Neck depend on your class, some are cheap and others aren't. For rings you can also go with Underdark as they have some decent ones for fresh 70's.
Other than this you need to work on all of your campaign boons. Once you've progressed enough you can get into T2 content and look for your end-game setup.
You'll need a basic weapon and armor enchantment - again, class specific. If you don't have much AD you can still buy r7 regular enchantments for very little - as long as you're running your daily 2x Dungeons & Skirmishes you should have enough for these, or rank 8's if you save up.
For artifacts, you get several free ones that aren't bad though you'll probably need to save up for one or two more optimal ones from the AH.
For more specific advice you should say what your class is.

Thank you so much! I did edit my post an posted my class. I'm a warlock
Cool, go with the Black Ice set for neck and belt Also, head over to the SW class section on these forums and you'll get some good advice on builds, loadouts and gear from people more knowledgeable of the class than me.

A bit way to get your IL up is to make sure you have enchants in all of the enchant slots - if you have trade bars you can buy 7's to fill your gear with. Then start leveling them up. Also as of last weekend the low level weapon and armor enchants were still pretty cheap in the AH, if you have the AD you could grab those.

Oh, and if you are in a guild - you can ask if there is anyone in the guild who can make you the drown set. Those can be made in professions now.
