AC vs DC cleric.

sergeunsergeun Member Posts: 1 Arc User
I'm looking for someone that can give me a good reason other than wanting to deal more dps for themselves to choose DC over AC.
It seems to me the only thing that would help the party is Prophecy of Doom, but then you lose the 15% Blessing of Battle power share.
Looking for an Outside view since i'm stuck in my ways of AC being way better than DC for a group.

    There're two considerations:
    1. If you don't have an optimized power sharing build (proper gear and knowledge), then DO is better buffer (TI being activate-and-forget type of feature);
    2. Party with 2 AC clerics is less optimal than one with AC + DO.

    one more thing to consider.

What level of bonding your teammates have. If your teammates aren't running with R12 bonding users then your elite power sharing may not providing the dps boost your hoping for.

What's your focus, if your not pulling double dailys the discussion isn't simply TI vs BoB + AA, it's actually TI + HG vs BoB + AA. So yeah, your gear + your parties gear to determine damage increase, vs a flat damage increase. And buff uptime

I think you mean AC vs DO.

And you don't have to choose.
    Take a Loudout of each.
RiDO is best at solo/personal DPS.

Beyond the above points, 100% uptime for AA is an outspoken part of the equation. Even if you have enough power to make AA superior (held to be 30k+) you have to be able to maintain the daily all the time. Even if you can do so in boss fights, it may not be possible during trash clearing. Even if possible, it can be a headache.

My primary loadout is RI-DO but I am switching to RI-AC for boss fights or if there is another DC who is/wants to stay DO.

    so...

    1) There is no right answer
    2) You can do both
    3) Most of the threads in this forum cover it. No need to stir up controversy. It's a dead horse and we don't have a Resurrection spell in this game.

    AC vs DO*

You can play both in same character.

    both paths are good.

AC main buff is power but i don't think u need to be BIS to play it.
location of battle fervor make it easy to put point into gift of haste
even with 15k power you can still buff yourslef nice with BoB, weapon of light, bonding and protector camaraderie.
its true u need companion + bonding and equip, but this is true for any path or class now.

DO divintiy gain is much nicer. in the heat of battle you get nice divinty over time and it make it easy to cast empower
it also do bit more damage due to casting more encounters and faster playstyle.
HG cool time is challenging, many time i have to wait 3-7 sec as casting other daily at that time is a waist.
in PVP DO got the edge (maybe even as healer). but in PVE difference is not big.

I'd like to point out why I think OP refered to DO as "DC". I've noticed that, as DO was pretty much an unknow path for like 99.99% of DC'S before its rework, since it got changed and I say the following because I still hear it very often, people refer to DO as "Divine Cleric"

only for short minded people, DO was first, and DO was pve king until around MOD 8

No, actually RiDO was famous, the top DPS class for a few modules.
See DO section in Kaelac's guide from Mod 5:
    http://neverwintergt.blogspot.com/2014/12/kaelacs-module-5-devoted-cleric-guide.html?m=1

It was only in the past 1-2 years that DO hit a slump.
A few modules back RiDOs could out DPS GWF, HR and CW.

If we are talking paingiver. DC has never out dpsd like geared CW. Now they may have out dpsd pre-mod 6 GWF (which was notoriously under-powered and unloved).

Only recently has HR really performed well on paingiver. For many mods HR had the problem of generating to much threat, so they spent all their time kiting mobs and not dpsing. Then they were pretty lackluster for awhile and have only recently risen to their current state of HDPS fame.

While you will see some HDPS DC's out there, they never really hold up to equally geared DPS classes because as mentioned in other threads, DC gets its DPS from

    1) stacking buffs and debuffs which also impact the rest of the party (no self buff/debuffing like GWF, GF, SW, TR)
    2) DOTs, which don't get to register on the paingiver in short fights
