CC and armor

So, I pretty much left pvp after a long period of only 1 or 2 matches per day. Im a lil rusty. Anyway off to the question. Does being under cc negate your armor or something? During the few matches I played over the weekend I met 2 CW (both pretty much bis but so is my char) who could deal quite a lot of dmg and quite fast too in one case actually killing my tank. Now that would be fine and all if they had the stats to back that dmg up. However upon inspection I saw massive HP pools, power in the 30s and Arm Pen as low as 10% along with negligible defensive stats. 10% Arm Pen! My tank is pushing the limits of DR in PVP with 230k health and plent yof tenacity. How can a CW outperform a GWF when it comes to dealing dmg to a tank such as mine (paladin btw). Seriously the only other class who managed to deal so much dmg to me was a bis TR via SE. Whats up with CWs nuking so hard without arm pen and surviving as good as a tank? Did they get buffed again? Maybe I should transfer my stuff to my wizard but he's way behind on boons to rly compete.

While you may think your question is simple the answer is complex and needs more information to be complete.

In regards to DR vs. RI there's been several posts that discuss DR, Tenacity DR, and Armor pen. Suffice to say it depends on the class and build but generally it's hard to get enough arm pen for most classes so it's better to power stack.

There are several builds that are viable and high damage in PVP right now. MoF debuff + Rene does good damage, MoF + Thaum does great damage with Combat advantage. SS + Rene has long been the go to and the procs of SS are high damage.

As far as gear being negated, you do lose some defensive stats with certain types of CC. You're at greatest risk when you've been frozen. CWs deal massive damage from chill stacks and MoF debuffs. Look for the at will ray of frost, when you have built stacks of chill on you you'll get repelled into an ice knife which prones you most often followed by disintegrate. That rotation is strong dps.

CW did not get buffed but several BIS CWs are building smartly and have high burst along with debuffs and chill stack damage buffs.
On ambush rings: "How would you like PVE if all the mobs were invisible?"

umm is the mirage weapon not supposed to do extra damage to shielded opponents?? as per description ?? lol
also chill stacks staying have been fixed for elven battle enchantments which also increases damage

i think if you are controled you give combat advantage.
not sure how much it reduce your armor but its more damage
some classes can have feats based on advantage as well

as for mirage, its the main PVP weapon now so there must be a reason.
I think some ilusion can knock you down.

    @marnival

hypothesis MOF debuffer cw single target pvp spec
combat advantage interaction is somehow bugged in the renegade tree choas of abyss mirrage wepons and combat advantage
    combined somehow with bitter cold
perhaps combined with pvp feat boons the more allies are present

what weapon enchant was used what rotation was used

you can pm me the cws that are doing that to pugs if you like there are only 10 or so top cw left in my mind so the list must be short maybe someone has a personal vendetta against you

I'd speculate it has to do with entity mechanics. CW has powers like Icy Terrain, Column of Ice, and Oppressive Force which behave as separate entities for the purposes of applying certain debuffs / proc'ing certain effects.

It was reported elsewhere that illusions seem to have a similar behavior, behaving as separate entities for the purposes of applying debuffs / proc'ing certain effects.

I would wager that certain gear-related or maybe even feat-related debuffs could be applied separately by the illusions (possibly in addition to stacks applied by the separate-entity powers).

Having a particular effect applied 3, 4, or 5 times over even with a relatively short duration could be game-breaking in PVP.

dont worry they added a downside to the weapon you turn into a chicken lol
dev does not want to say the %5 chance tho or the stats
the Easter egg must have been their version of a balance pass
oh great maybe Cw is flavor of the month again after like 7 mods lol

wondering if they trigger spell storm procs as well .

Thanks for the input folks. I dont rly need any more explanations, pvp is as bad as i remember it anyway. Either premades cc you to death or you wreck some unlucky lowbies. Ill just stick to pve and that's that.

Wise decision, I took me 5 mods to get there.
If ever there will be a soloqueue and a PVP wich does not require gear, worth about 100.000.000 AD, I would give it a try again :)
Honestly, this PVP is and allways was a pretty poor experience beside some rare matches, "Bazooka meats fork" in 2 out of 10 matches
Btw. there are ways for a MoF-CW to push his effectiveness by debuffs beyond the 200% cap...pretty much forgot how.
In a dungeonrun you find ACT-logs >450% effectiveness, buffed by a rene-Mof, but I doubt that path is capable to deal high burst.

single target Mof specialist will deal high burst ... with chilling and critical conflagulation
if you do enough damage you dont need aoes lol : D for most skirmishes / dungeons

@schietindebux There is no bugs, it's all easter eggs

My CW friend got accused of multi proccing renegade capstone and other bugs from rene feat tree while he had a Thaum/Opp build.

Some people will always try to excuse their lose...

said person ( the accuser ) swore that they in fact they (the Cw ) were using a renegade build lol

Actually Ive had some awesome fun in PVP way back in the pre-tenacity gear days. When a GWF in full Avatar of War + Fomorian FAbled greatsword was a force to be reckoned with. We've come a long way since then but never really got anywhere.
