Lightning enchant visuals

So I've been testing the lightning, (currently rank 11)....I'm confused about the visuals....I always see the chains (or at least what I think are the chains, moving from one target to another horizontally) but I only sometimes see the strikes from above.....I ran one IG and saw no strikes from above, and ran another and saw them coming from above on almost every strike.....is this just a visual bug??

    I use a trans lightning.
    The "from above" visual is suppose to coincide with the bonus solo damage (when no other mobs in range to chain).
    The damage does happen, but I cannot say I consistently see the visual.

    I just want a Quickening effect with it whenever I kill something.
