Feeder artifacts?

I was under the impression you could feed an existing artifact to refine a new one. I have a sigil artifact that is up to epic that i was changing out for the shard of valindras crown (both artifacts of power), but when i went to refine the valindra piece, the other artifact never showed up in the list of possible things to refine with. Is that not a thing?

    You cannot refine any sigil or event artifact into another artifact. :(

    so what could i do with this bound, upgraded sigil artifact that i will never use again? Discard it? thats bull bird man

    Yeah, that's about it. All reclaimable artifacts are not usable for refinement so be careful and verify in the future to save yourself some aggravation.

    The reason you can't use sigils for refinement is because you have an infinite supply of them. If you discard your one you'll be able to pick it up again from the vendor.

    Put it in your bank, it may become useful at some point in the future.

    Yeah even though i have no intention of using it as the stats on it are not really relevant to my current build, i couldnt bring myself to discard it. haha. It was my first artifact that i got right after the original story line, from a quest from jaraxle i believe. will probably pop it into my bank since i cleared out pretty much my entire inventory and bank space using up refinements. It's kind of a strange feeling to just be able to pick up any loot that hits the ground without agonizing over whether or not it's worth my time to re-organize my bags.
