Damage resistance cap (ps4)

Ok I'm trying to figure this out as my DR is currently at 74%. I have a Trans negation if I hit the 80% DR cap is there a point in keeping the Trans negation in my armor or should I switch it for something else?
I guess it comes down to rather the damage resistance is a soft or hard cap, soft cap means it can go over 80% with certain items where as hard cap it stops at 80% no matter what.
Any info or input on this would be greatly appricate.

I am definitely not an expert on this but my understanding is that:

Most mobs (under Lvl 73?) - 80% hard cap. Going over 80% gives you no benefit.
"Harder" Mobs (lvl 73 or higher?) - They have 15% armor penetration. So to mitigate this, you need 95% damage resistance.

I may have erred in this, but I am certain that 80% is "not good enough" in terms of capping.

The max you want is 95%. Enemies can have up to 15% than 80% is the max for DR. Having it at 95% work for the 80% Cap and the 15% RI that enemies have. Hope this helps yo out.

    I spot a softcap term.

To the thread, 80% resistance after reductions / buffs and etc.. is a Hardcap. Meaning if you have 81% Resistance you will get 80%. If you have 100%, you still get 80%. Again, after all the other calculations.
